Hi All,

Just have a question, if I want to book SYD-HKG-CGK-HKG-SYD, using miles, I believe a Y redemption will be 45000 asiamiles for the return trip but without stopovers.

If I wasted to stop over either on the way out or in, any ideas how much extra it is ? And is it possible to stopover both directions?

Thanks,
K.

I can't find a specific answer re. stopping over in HKG, but I highly suspect that it would end up pricing as two awards, rather than one.

You may also want to check your figures. I noticed this on the Cathay website:

Award zones are based on the one-way distance between the origin airport and destination airport. If connecting sectors are involved, the sector distances should be added together to determine the total one-way distance and the applicable award zone.

SYD-CGK-SYD would theoretically cost 45,000 miles return but travelling via HKG pushes the routing into the next zone, meaning it would be 60,000 miles round-trip. For two return awards (1 SYD-HKG, and 1 HKG-CGK), you'd probably be looking at 45,000 + 30,000 = 75,000 Asia Miles.

My only suggestion to bring it down to 60,000 miles would be to try to get a long stopover of just under 24 hours in HKG, so that it is classed as a transit (and not a stopover).
