G'day, I'm out of touch with the most efficient way to use QFF points, I'm trying to work out whether to use QFF for a couple of Per-Melb flights that are coming up or a Per-Lax trip planned for mid 2012. To me it looks like the Per-Lax flight could be a better use of points (assuming that I could even get a flight). Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

Cheers

With the caveat that I know nothing specific about the QFF program... MY take on it is that redeeming for long haul is better value than short haul... but the biggie is that redeeming for premium cabins (or using the points/miles for upgrades to same) is much, much better value than using pints/miles for economy travel...

With MY program the best value by far is upgrading cheap economy fares.

So just out of interest, how many points would u estimate it would take to upgrade a Q economy flight to LAX to prem economy? Or higher?

You should note that if you don't have status - actually pretty much if you're not WP - you have very little chance of getting a points upgrade.

In my experience when using QFF points for J class travel its much easier to find domestic rather than international availability.
