Yes amazing how our views change - we spent 3 weeks in Europe June 14 to July 5 - I took iPhone 6+ and 2 cameras - I did not take 1 pic with either camera - just so much easier with phone - I never thought I would be typing this.

I don't know the cost but what about a 4/3 camera such as this:
[h=1]Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 14-42mm 2RK lens[/h]There could be other brands and models too.

Absolutely. But when you look at those photos on a computer or even print them (gasp) they don't quite look quite as good. That said, the live photo is magic.

I'm very much thinking about the Sony RX100 IV. My other cameras are both bigger and less practical to carry around on a daily basis.
If you can afford one, a fabulous choice. Brilliant camera.

I bought one of these recently and then enrolled in a TAFE photography course. The presenter was quite impressed with the small size and excellent features.

Olympus also off a free "Coffee on Olympus" service where a rep. brings all the camera models and lenses and goes through how they all work. It wasn't a hard sell at all, just an information session. I am going to another session in a couple of weeks. You could even attend before purchasing the camera.

I have also bought a prime lens which seems great so far.

+1 for the Sony HX90. Can be found for around the $425 to 450 mark . Sony website is usually around the 550 mark.

It was possible to get the Sony HX90V for $424 (or the similar but less featured Sony WX500 for $381) in December, with $100 back from Amex (Harvey Norman spend $300 offer) plus $50 EFTPOS gift card via redemption.

I got mine from Good Guys for $389 IIRC, got the $50 redemption plus The GG sent me a $50 voucher which I used to buy memory cards. Didn't check what offers I had on my Amex but still very happy with my purchase.

Ah. That's right. Original Nokia? Or flip phone I think. Loved flip phones but mine was stolen in HCM :(

Yes flip phones  but not much is getting done around here at present as I have the flu, and couldn't give a ......... about anything. Going to see my GP this morning as yesterday I was coughing so much I was heaving.

I might have a flip phone or two at home. Not that they work with 2G turned off but if anybody wants one let me know and it's yours.

I take it the 'house' GP doesn't do home visits?
I got an awful cough on the Princess Cruise in Dec that stopped within 24 hours of disembarking. I think it must have been an allergy? Travelling is not good for health :p

I leave for Singapore in 63 days so I have a few days up my sleeve. Have a great long distance camera - similar to blackcat20 but tired of bulk.

They were Motorola from memory? I think they just remind me of Get Smart or something. Nostalgia kicking in.

Ron is working in Rockhampton. I'm home alone. And we leave on our next big trip in 20 days !

Does it wifi to the iPhone?

It prefers Android, and will do NFC to those types of phones, but yes, will send an image to an iThing via Wi-Fi when you install the Sony 'PlayMemories Mobile' phone application.

Will also send to a Mac or Windows computer.

Does it wifi to the iPhone?

Sony cameras like this use the PlayMemories app for iPhone/iPad (and Android AFAIK) and computer. PlayMemories Mobile Support | Sony

This is excellent. I use it with my RX100 while in the bar/lounge at night to quickly transfer the day's photos to my iPad via WiFi. Then I can select, edit and upload to Flickr (using Flickr Stackr) and then select and edit a sub set to upload to AFF. Very good solution.

BTW: These are a good comparison articles
