Hi all,

Scotch and wine I'm fine with...champagne not so much, so I figured I'd come to the experts (QF009 I'm looking at you in particular ;)).

We're settling on (and moving into) our new apartment next Friday, and we'd like to pick up a nice bottle of champagne to celebrate - looking at around $150ish.

I've had the usual French basic champagnes (Moet NV, Veuve Clicquot NV, Piper Heidsieck NV, plus a few others I can't remember) but I'm looking for something a bit more special. I've also tried Krug NV which was fantastic (best champagne I've tasted), but it's probably a bit more than I'm looking to spend.

Any recommendations? At around $249, would a 2000 Dom Perignon be significantly better than anything around $150? Unfortunately no international travel coming up soon, so I'm paying liquor store prices...

Thanks!

Cheers,
- Febs.
