Thanks samh004 :) So do you think it was worth $7.99?

They're filling and tasty. I didn't experience the same OMG as last week but if I was bringing a gift, I'd consider them, as I did tonight. They were enjoyed.

That said, it wasn't worth 50 points. ;)

I couldn't even find them at my local Woolies this afternoon.:confused:

Same Here. Little sign near the front at the WW I went today. I wanted to find the Chilli con Carne but searched and searched...

I have never been able to eat mince pies as I thought they were made of mince meat. Yet I quite like the odd pie, especially Vilis. Go figure!

Don't mind a Villli's pie. Didn't know they were originally from SA, as they have a factory in Melbourne.

Villis are an SA legend and only went National after their contract at the Sydney Olympics.

Just like other SA icons like Fruchocs, Haighs Chocolates, Beerenberg Jams, Coopers Pale Ale, and Farmers Union Iced Coffee.

Taken from Vilis website.

When the Milisits family escaped the Hungarian revolution in 1956 and set out for Adelaide, South Australia, they had no idea their son Vilmos, or Vili as he came to be known, would revolutionise the Australian Meat Pie to become, amongst other things, a pastry cook. Vili started a baking revolution with words like “A meat pie should only contain meat”. And not just any meat, but high quality lean beef – not soy bean substitute and artificial ingredients. “It must be fresh” became another Vili philosophy. Through innovation, quality products and customer service we believe you will always “Taste the Difference”.

A Bit OTT but
It is good to support local Australian product. On my visits to Adelaide I would try to find time to visit:

Villi's Cafe at Mile End for a pie and iced coffee lunch,
Haigh's factory on Greenhills Road, Parkside for a chocolate hit ( now charging for the foil takeaway bag),
Beerenberg farm at Harndorf (we like their jams but really like to Hahndorf Hot Mustard),
Cental Adelaide markets,
Udder Delights Cheese Cellar at Hahndorf and,
rounded off with a quiet Cooper's Ale at the airport waiting for our flight.

We also like Nippy's Iced Coffee and Chocolate, which we can get at home.

Sadly, I have not had time to do all these things on recent visits...so our waistlines are a little better.

It is good to support Australian products that are a reasonable price for the quality rather than Lurpack etc.

I saw that, but Villi's have sold in my area of MEL for a while.

Just confirming the Chilli Con Carne at $2.99 gets the 50 bonus points. What's better is my local Woolies aren't displaying the new price and there's plenty there. may stock up tomorrow.

They noted tonight "ChoCorn" sold bucket loads, but I don't think you can fit that many boxes in a bucket.

This week we have:

Frozen pizza dough (just thaw, flatten and add toppings)
Apple crumble kit
Cake pop kit

A bit of a yawn really. Not interested in any of them. The first 2 are really easy anyway and I'm not into cake crazes.

Golden Greek Pizza on shelves tomorrow. I'm actually interested in how easy it'll be to make. Report coming tomorrow night.

Price is again quite high, but then it does include 2 pizzas so it's probably appropriate at $7.59. Does anyone regularly buy frozen pizzas?

I had intended to do my review tonight. But didn't read the instructions till I got home. Bad idea.

The contents of the box require 3-4 hours to defrost for starters, and then you find out that as it's a DIY kit all that's included is the dough and sauce. In retrospect, this makes perfect sense. But at the shelves I grabbed it, left, got home and discovered I needed to buy the toppings!

I may go back to pick up toppings, but thinking out loud here, a great idea would be to have a recommended toppings pack in the deli that could be picked up, to save much thought. After all, isn't that the market? I doubt I'll get that lucky though!

If I get my toppings, there may be a full review later.

Price is way over the top again, the pre-made bases in the deli area are sub $5 for two.
