Hi All. Has anyone recently booked China Eastern Flights via Qantas Classic rewards? I Have booked some seats today for March next year - they have yet to issue my eticket and the cancel/modify buttons remain greyed out. BUT the status says "confirmed". If anyone has booked these flights recently - how long did it take for your eticket to come through after booking?? I've been reading some concerning posts about Qantas allowing us to book seats with China Eastern - but then China Eastern advising that those seats are not actually yet available.

Also on a side note - if anyone has successfully booked Qantas classic rewards with China Eastern and got an eticket - how did you go about selecting your seats with China Eastern??

Any help or insights much appreciated.
Many thanks

I booked a rewards trip flying with MU and JL at the end of last year, for the end of this year - I didn't receive my e-ticket number and PDF from Qantas within 1hr of the booking.

Knowing Qantas w/ Partner airlines and delays etc, I called up and asked for an e-ticket to be issued - it then got pushed through and was issued within 45mins of the call.

Overall 2hrs for my e-ticket, on a weekend and around 10pm.

I'd say to call Qantas and ask for it to be ticketed ASAP - once you receive it, keep an eye on it regularly using the Royal Jordanian website to view your e-ticket number.

Even though my flights are in Q4 of this year, I check at least once a week to ensure that e-ticket numbers are still showing.

Regarding seat selection for MU, I was able to select my seats using both the Czech Airlines and Japan Airlines websites.

Hi. I finally have my eticket. So that’s good.

Are you saying I can use Czech or Japan airlines websites to select my seats on a China Eastern flight? Huh? How does that work?

The China Eastern website isn't that great and the manage booking portal doesn't allow you to select seats (not in my case anyway - I can't even enter my booking on the MU website) - therefore I used the Czech Airlines website to select my seats even though it was an MU flight.

China Eastern and Czech Airlines are part of the Skyteam airline alliance and use the same / compatible booking / manage booking portals so you're able to view and manage bookings within either.

Oh ok - great to know thanks. On the Czech website do I enter my Qantas booking reference or my ticket number? Will my seats selected then show up in my Qantas booking?

Also, check that you’ve entered the minimum APIS. At least DOB. This is required to issue a ticket.

I thought I should go in and check my 2 China Airlines (CI) reward tickets for ticket number etc. Yes, OK, but when I checked the APIS for both, neither had any details there. Could it issue ticket given QFF info it was booked through?

Just your Qantas booking reference number along with your last name and it should come up accordingly.

Once your seats are selected and confirmed, it should then come up in your Qantas app / manage booking.

Who knows for sure? The QF website used to prompt you to enter DoB when booking an international ticket (using $ or points) but it doesn’t now and even though you might be logged in, that extra info doesn’t cut across (just name as entered - unless there’s been a recent fix).

Otherwise, you then go into APIS, there’s usually a yellow banner stating that a ticket will only be issued once APIS is entered!

I had a mixed QF/JQ reward booking fail to ticket because of this (fortunately that was easily reinstated) but I now go into APIS immediately after making a booking as a matter of course and the eTicket usually arrives shortly after.

Or maybe I had it entered and its dropped out. 🤷‍♂️ But I'm glad to be prompted to look and I've taken a screen shot of it all.

For the most part the reason why MU's interfaces seem clunky is because they do everything off their app. Seat selection, reward system, everything is off their app on alipay/WeChat

Thanks again for this advice. I’ve booked my seats and they are showing on my Qantas booking. 😃
