Does anyone have recent experience flying China Eastern (MU) and can help me with some questions.

I've searched their websites, and as usual information for English-speaking customers is somewhat lacking.

* Does anyone have experience with their J & Y hard product? What's it like comfort wise for 2-3hr flights?
* What's the on-board service like?
* Do customers flying J have access to access to a lounge at either ICN or PVG?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

I have only ever flown internally in China. But I have found the service from the FA's very good. The planes are also OK.

I agree, the websites are hard to navigate. Several sites I’ve seen have mentioned an F and J lounge at PVG for China Eastern, so I’ll assume it’s there.

As for ICN, I had to download their airport map, and at the top of page 5, showing the 3rd and 4th floor, you’ll see a rather large (comparatively) MU lounge. However their link uses javascript and I can’t post it… :oops:

Incheon International Airport >> And click on Airport Guide at the bottom left, it’ll download a PDF relatively slowly ;)

I did one J and one Y domestic China flight a few weeks ago. J service was excellent - hard product similar to QF 738 domestic J. There is lounge access in PVG.

Y was ok. Choice of meal served.

Ive flown them in Y and J internally. No issues. Clean, friendly cabin staff and even China Daily paper handed to me, plus the bonus QF miles. Pity no SC's though.

They are joining Skyteam soon.

Flew MU return from PVG to PEK recently for a 1 day trip. Lounge access was included, but appalling. Basically had water and soft drink, some packet snacks, a few chairs, and nothing else. Probably the worst lounge I've ever seen.

Onboard in J class was a different story though - good service, good food, seats fine for a 2-3 hour trip. Fairly similar to QF domestic J class, except more legroom.

My only concern was their safety ... which was recently highlighted again!
