Hi All,

Just have a quick question.

I booked some fares lately (Red-e-Deal), and they have been put into what I would class as unexpected fare buckets.

They have fallen under E or Q which present me the option of changing my flights (unlike previous flights under N or O).

I was just curious as to what may have changed to allow those buckets to be used and allowing changes on date/time for the flights.

Also of note I do not see a 'Seat Selection' button on the 'Manage My Booking' page.

If anyone can shed some light that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,

Marty

On Australian domestic flights, red-e-deals have 4 different fare levels E,O,Q and N.

O and N are the most common fares to be seen. E occurs on some markets and is generally a lower fare level.

As far as I was aware they all allowed changes for a fee.

My fares are generally O fares for red e deals. Occasional during sales they turn up as E.

I have had no problems changing flights in these fare classes provided it is more than 1 day before the flight. Besides the massive change fee.

Marty,

I can not tell it from your profile, but what level status are you with QF?

That may or may not be the answer to your second question.

I'm a QP member, sadly only Bronze :(

I asked due to the fact I have never seen the 'Change' button available to me on any prior flights.

Thanks again,

Marty

That explains the lack of seat preselection. That is not available to bronze frequent flyers.

When you've tried to change has it been on the same day? Changes are not allowed on the same day.

Perhaps I should clarify the situation I am experiencing.

On prior bookings 'Change' has either been greyed out or not shown at all.

Typically 'Select Seats' has been visible but greyed out.

To add to the conundrum I have in fact on one booking been able to pre-select seats despite my bronze status.

Could it be some sort of flux in the systems causing these mixed responses?

Thanks,

Marty

If you are booking through a travel agent (or a corporate booking agency) then this is likely behaviour.

Being able to select seats could (possibly - not sure) be related to the fare class you're booked into. But again - not entirely sure.

It could be, however I only book via the QF website.

I'm just rather confused as to the capabilities that QF assigns to each fare bucket (especially when it is not full Y).

Thanks again Mal.
