As of early August i have re-qualified as gold again for the next 12 months. My current Gold expires on 13th October 2013. In July i received a new global wallet card with an expiry of 11/13. I have booked a flight to USA from 3rd October to 7th November. The return flight i booked directly with Virgin and i have around 6 internal flights in the USA which i booked on the delta website. I did speak to someone at Virgin after i had qualified again to let them know i will be overseas and that the card expires while i am there and if i can get a new one before i leave with a new exp date. Today i received a new card from Virgin, but it has the same exp date as my old card and the global wallet has the same exp date as well but a different visa card number. I rang up Virgin to explain i actually wanted a new card with a new exp date and not a new card with the same exp date. The guy on the phone said that a new card will not be sent out till the 13th of October 2013 which i will already be overseas and the best they could do was call a week before I leave and they can send me an email saying that i have gold status for another year and show the email to delta staff when going through priority boarding and the lounge. Has anyone tried to use a delta lounge or priority boarding with an expired card and a letter from Virgin? or does anyone know if there is a way for virgin to send a new card with a new exp date before i leave?

Your benefits last a month after expiry, if you have the non passport card it says that on the back, so take, that one, problem solved.
