My advice would be to avoid the front rows in PE if you're wanting to stretch your legs......luckily i had an empty seat beside me to angle my body or else it would have been horrible for 14 hours.

That is certainly the case with the original configuration.

Not so with the new one.

Just attended the media 'launch' of the refreshed B777s at LAX, managed to grab some pics of premium economy - seriously generous pitch, seems a fine product - will post later this morning when I'm back at the hotel.

Edit - unhappy with VA's customer service today for my wife and kids in LA.

I hope that their problems on VA8 today have nothing to do with the "media launch". If it was a media event, VA could have actually schedule reps when the call centre promised them.

Indeed. Seems like the other rows have a retractable foot rest as well!

New premium economy has ample room in the front row.

Do you know that from experience? although it looks ample, being just a few inches short of full recline is very frustrating. It deceived me until i tried to stretch out.

I think I have stumbled across definitive 1st World problem - do we fly QF F LAX-MEL or VA J LAX-BNE-MEL? To many a no brainer - but I seriously want to try new VA J - at least we can sit together and explore and experience the new VA J cabin and product together - flying F on QF provides zero interaction - but YES we do not have that painful transfer BNE int-dom - what to do?

Fly it once just so you will always know that you have tried it... then you go can go back to QF :)

No - there's an Aircraft over in AKL having some unforseen work done on it.
