I hope this is the right section; I am new to the forum world. I apologize in advance.
I need some advice, but first of all this is NOT a complaint, my curious nature just can't get my head around it.

I fly a reasonable amount in various countries (15-20 flights per month) but in Australia with Qantas rarely and only short distances.
A friend recommended I joined the q f f
I did this and now at the end of my very first membership year, I had (I thought) on accrued enough status credits to be 15 or so short of Gold.
Not concerned with this (although the lounge use would have been nice), I just went about my business as usual.
Much to my disgust last week I had to change terminals in BNE and recheck in at domestic and I hate this airport, easily the most convoluted backward place in the world and is more akin to a train station than an airport.

Anyway I digress...

When I swiped my Q card it printed my boarding pass and on it, it told me that I was a Gold q f f member.
That's where I got confused, it had been some weeks since my points expired, so online I went to look at my statement
and this is what it says...

07 SEP 12 STATUS CREDITS IN PREVIOUS YEAR 17JUL12 - - - 0 20
07 SEP 12 STATUS CREDITS IN PREVIOUS YEAR 17JUL12 - - - 0 15
07 SEP 12 STATUS CREDITS IN PREVIOUS YEAR 18JUL12 - - - 0 10
07 SEP 12 STATUS CREDITS IN PREVIOUS YEAR 15AUG12 - - - 0 10
07 SEP 12 STATUS CREDITS IN PREVIOUS YEAR 15AUG12 - - - 0 20
07 SEP 12 STATUS CREDITS IN PREVIOUS YEAR 27AUG12 - - - 0 10
07 SEP 12 STATUS CREDITS IN PREVIOUS YEAR 27AUG12 - - - 0 15
07 SEP 12 STATUS CREDITS IN PREVIOUS YEAR 28AUG12 - - - 0 10
31 AUG 12 EXPIRED STATUS CREDITS 31AUG12 - - - 0 -685
Putting me up 110 points to 795 and Gold Status.
I can't make heads nor tails of this, I was hoping someone could explain for me how or why it was recalculated???

It looks like some flights have posted late (some very late - did you put in a missing points claim) that have been added to your prior year getting you over the 700 SCs.
Anyhow, well done on Gold.

Hi silverfingers,

Welcome to AFF. :D

You have posted in the correct area.

SCs always revert to being posted in the membership year that you earn them so as moa999 suggested it appears that you had some that posted very late and were put back into last years total.

Thank you for that, that makes sense, I didn't put in a missing points claim (wouldn't know how to) I don't police the statements at all so I wouldn't even know if they missed some flights earlier in the year..
Is it normal for them to apply points that late? QFF is one of three programs I am a part of and the other two are never this late.
Also, with such a small amount of QF trips is it normal to go from bronze to Gold in one year??
Seems like they make it pretty easy for you, I will have to start looking at the partner airlines and possible doing those missing points claims thingys...

Welcome to AFF :D

Those SC's posting on Septer 7th. Did they relate to specific flights and/or did you have a double SC offer?

I have had a look back through it and from what I can gather, the dates that it lists in the previous year are actually posted already, so unless there was a double points offer like you say.
There was no specific route or flight numbers attached to the posts on 07 sept just dates.
Often when in AUS I do have to catch two or three flights in the one day, I could be missing one or two here and there, to be honest its pretty hard to keep track of where I am or where I've been, I have people for that anyway.

What ever has happened its a nice little bonus..

Congrats on getting to Gold!

Though would name SYD as the worst for changing terminals, not BNE :p

and yes, actually, I didn't think about SYD, I don't come through SYD international that often but your right it probably is worse.

I would guess it was double SC's due to no specific flight information.

Whenever points/SC's for a flight posts into your next "year" they post in the following format:

Ahhh I see, thats great, thanks for clearing that up.
Any clues on why I would get double points?

A lot of people were given double SC offers during that period. Some to help them requalify and some, I suspect, simply to counter some of the things happening at Virgin.

But presumably OP did not even sign up for the double SC offer if it ever came?

congratz on gold, maybe you should change your name to goldenfingers instead, not too late, you only have 5 posts :)
