Rather convincing scam email claiming to be from Qantas Business Rewards

I received this email today claiming to be from "Qantas", with an apparent offer to claim a free $100 from Qantas Business Rewards. Now, Qantas would obviously never be that generous, so this looked like a scam to me, and sure enough the email sender is "[email protected]".

A few other giveaways are that the ABN and Qantas Points balance shown at the top do not belong to me.

Still, I was pretty impressed at how much this looks like a real Qantas email, complete with animated graphics. Which is concerning, because I suspect many others who are not as switched on will fall for this. It even managed to bypass my spam filter and landed in my regular inbox - not the junk/spam folder.

I’ve been receiving a lot of dodgy stuff to my eMail linked to my QBR account post the QF data breach…

Most don’t end up in the Junk/Spam folder but obviously phishing cough. A lot of pretend ATO stuff. So far no blatant QF stuff but I’ll post in the scam thread if I receive any….

IME one giveaway is these scam emails tend to include the currency AUD while legitimate local emails hardly if ever do.
