On querying the removal of Coles gift cards from RACQ website, I received the following;

"Thank you for your email.

Due to significantly increased usage in recent times, we have had to temporarily remove Coles from the catalogue.
We do not have an estimated time-frame on when this will be resolved.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause."

5% WISH cards seem to be still available.

Thanks I'm planning to buy one tomorrow when I'm into my next credit card billing cycle and will report back if it's no longer available...

My employer has a site where gift cards can be purchased as well as a cashback scheme, similar to cashrewards. They have also cancelled Coles Gift Cards (which have a 5% discount) until end of June.

I bought a couple of big WISH cards instead. I don't think you can buy a gift card with a WISH card at Woolworths though; would you know if that's correct?

As of last night, NIB's reward portal was still selling them (with $20, $50, $100 available in dropdown). If you have an NIB policy, they're 5% with a 1% card surcharge (but they accept Amex).

Yes, this has been true for a while now. It used to be possible.

AGL Rewards still have them, biggest is $500.
Yes @ 5% off. I just bought one. Limit $500 per month with 1% fee for MC / Visa

Oh good. I have AGL rewards. I think they are 5% with 1% surcharge on all CC's

Regarding my earlier comment about the rewards gateway, the CC charge rate is roughly:
- 0% on Debit cards and basic (i.e non Platinum Viisa/MC)
- 0.5% I think on all Visa/Master card Premium
- 3.0% (or might be 3.5%, don't use it anymore) for AMEX.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just looked still not available.
Yeah, we've moved to Woolworths 5% through RACQ. Shame, the Bunnings cards from Coles at effectively 4% off in addition to Powerpass was nice while it lasted.

Where I get have obtained Coles vouchers, they have resumed but at 4%. They also have a weekly limit of $300, and if using a Debit or no frills Credit card there is no surchage.

As I'm an AGL customer, I have always had access to Coles cards but as mentioned above is 4% but takes a 1% surcharge minimum for Credit and Debit cards, the only way to avoid is doing a bank direct debit. They do have $500 cards which is and advantage (my other site mentioned only has $200 as a max denomination).

Is it worthwhile to still go for gift cards when the discount is effectively only 3%? I have my fair share of issues with gift cards and it feels like the hassle doesn't justify the benefit when you are only getting a 3% discount.

Gift cards are great when they work, but when they fail, you end up spending hours to remediate the issue as most staff aren't too familiar with them beyond the basics.

My wife is the main one that does the purchases and at 3% she is not a fan due to the issues. 5% was fair enough. They certainly lose their luster the lower they become.

depends how much you spend. i go through $500/month. that's $180 woth of savings a year even on 3%. you do still get reward points for the gift card purchase if you pay by credit card. i consider it a little more than 3%

been buying gift cards every month for more than 5 years and never had issues with the cards.

I have only ever purchased $50 cards from my energy provider. Just hand the voucher to the check out person and pay the rest by credit card. Couldn't be any easier.

It looks that they've changed again: still only 2.5% discount, but now a much more reasonable up to $500 worth per week.
I've been buying $500/week for a little while now, to buy a loaf of bread and some hardware cards.
