Whilst looking at ways to finally redeem some KF miles (that were at risk of expiring - thankfully now they will get two further extensions), I had an ‘oh, cough’ moment that I could have, should have transferred enough VA -> SQ points so I had enough for 2x J RTW. Instead, when VA was looking dodgy, I hedged my bets and transferred about half my VA stash over to SQ and worked out I should have enough for 1x F or 2x J Euro return Saver redemptions.

So I’m only 15k short of the 2x J RTW redemptions 🤯.

Are there any quick options to try and make up the diff?

VA -> SQ is off (may never come back?) - this would be my go to option if available…
My CC points -> QF (auto transfer)
Don’t want to fly revenue to earn

I understand that there is an option to buy points to make up the diff for redemptions but does that apply to RTW?

Or maybe a CC signup offer that could work with KF? (I already have AMEX cards - so usually exempt from AMEX signup offers…).

You could have a look at the "St.George Amplify Platinum - 130,000 bonus Amplify Points (can get you up to $550 in eGift cards) + a reduced first year annual fee of $49" signup offer.

What does that actually translate to in SQ miles?

I believe it converts at 3:1.
Ok. I went looking but I couldn’t find the details of the conversion rate. Obviously not like for like comparison with QF and VA cards but probably ok for my specific need.

Fair enough. But for little top ups ...

Flying VA business, credit to SQ.

There's some cheap I fares out there.

A $300 fare MEL/BNE may earn 1700

Yep. But 15k KF miles is 4+ MEL-BNE (Ret) VA J flights I don’t really need or want to do! 😳

Sure, but if you dig up most of the points but still need a few to fall over the line ...

My OP, is somewhat academic now. I bit the bullet and just booked 2x J saver reward flights to LHR (Ret) in Mar/May and now have the princely sum of 1000 KF miles remaining balance.

In happier times (and probably before now), I’d gone for the RTW option and certainly at least open jaw to avoid in the insidious UK departure tax but figured that the UK is the least likely to impose lockdowns/travel restrictions as Europe enters their Spring…
