Just upgraded a flight to syd and it was confirmed instantly ie 3 days in advance, is that normal or is it only international flights that come through hours before? I haven't done this before domestically but have a bunch of luggage for a business trip and wanted to avoid hassles. Will be in first row window seat but doubt its worth it (apart from the luggage).

This is normal with domestic upgrades. It is international upgrades that are not confirmed until 5hours before travel, although from my experiences it is more like 24 hours.

Don't know whether this is a "new" 737-800 but is 1F or 2F better? Only ever been J domestic for international connections and have usually been semi-comatose so never looked around...

I much prefer row 2. With long legs, the bulkhead in row 1 I find uncomfortable.

Agree on the B737's for seats A & C.
D & F appear to have a cutout for feet in the bulkhead, but no such luck for 1A :(

Recently on 2 "NEW" 737-800s MEL - ADL I was in 2F, & few days later on a ADL - PER leg I was in 1F.....I found both were must of the same ,comfy no problem ..As I've been seated in everything from 1A -3F on 737-800s on past flights, IMO, much the same....But everybody is different.....

PS I do have short legs, though...

Having survived Dash-8s, Cessnas, Pipers and far too many Saab turboprops in the bush I think 2F will be manageable. I still find every flight an adventure.

Unless you are over 6' tall!

ISTR there are cut outs in the 734, but not in the 73H's.

actually i am 6'4 and mostly travel in 1a or 1f when on 73H's - i can even cross my legs with an aisle passenger .... not sure what all the fuss is about

I did not indicate how much over 6' :p

It's a YMMV here, also some under 6' may sit with their hips further forward from their seat back than others of similar overall height might and hence also find some issues.

Me? I have yet to find a bulkhead seat that I would not be happy to sit in.

This also varies dramatically with where you height is :!:
ie upper body, legs or all over. ;)
