Im flying Air NZ to Rotorua this Saturday with my mum and brother (child) due to family illness back home - I am Velocity Gold.

I believe the rules say Velocity Gold + 1 Guest may pass the NZ lounge dragon, but do you know if the dragon will happen to be flexible with the .5 / child?

Has anyone tested this since they allowed Velocity Golds into the NZ lounge?

I know that Susan in the NZ SYD lounge is lovely, but I don't know how lovely since I've never tested her flexibility re: application of rules.

Also, VA are flexible in their domestic lounges in that they allow +1 AND 2 kids. I may be pushing it with NZ however...

I think you will be fine, they are likely to follow the lounge rules now in place that up to 2 kids are not counted:

From 26 July 2011, in addition to the existing complimentary allowance of one accompanying Guest per Virgin Australia lounge or Velocity Gold member, up to two children aged three to twelve years inclusive may accompany the member at no additional cost. Single entry fee applies for each additional child. There is no charge for infants two years and under.

You will be fine, NZ does not count kids under 12 as a guest.

Ive seen heaps of Family get into the SYD Lounge with out any problems.
