As in "QF metal" or "The AA challenge in 2007 is only based on flights flown on AA metal".

What does metal mean?

I don't think this is in the abbreviations and terms thread.

Metal in this case means the carriers' own aircraft, not a codeshare flight on another airlines' aircraft. So when it refers to 'QF metal' it means a Qantas aircraft.

Cool, thanks!

Now I see why (unless you are a frequent flyer within LOTFAP) the AA challenge is just a touch harder to complete.

However the use of metal in regards to the challenge is incorrect, the requirement is that the flights have AA flight numbers

I suppose we will have to change the terminology when the 787 is delivered. We will have to refer to them as QF Plastic or QF Composite :p

Hehehe :) yes yes very funny !

The A330's have a fair amount of composite as well. (Not nearly as much as the newer 787 etc)

Or simply use the term QF operated

Nahh, a little too boring and easily understood by the lay folks. We will need to find a good acronym to be quoted along with the secret FF handshake ;) .

Maybe we could use the metal to indicate the type of Carrier ...

DJ Copper.

AA Tin

LH Iron ...

;)

Cannot do that as that will throw more threads about "Is operated by Australian Airlines, Jetconnect, National Jet, Eastern, Sunstate etc valid for....?"
