Hello gaia,

You mentioned in another post (the impossible dream) that you fly more than 100 international flights a year with QF....

So if i can be a little rude and ask....

1.) What do you do (if you can say), i did think courier, anti terrorist security person, maybe a Rockwell Collins engineer fixing the IFE ;)
2.) Do you eat the food ?
3.) Do you use earplugs, noise cancelling headphone, ipod, or watch the same movie over and over ?

Can't think of anything else now, but i just thought it would be fun to ask.

4.) Do you still pay 'close and careful attention' to the inflight safety demo, or are you pretty confident you have a handle on it now?:D
5.) Only Qantas ?, or are you on any other carriers ?. Me, I reckon after a hundred flights I'd be choosing someone (anyone) else just to break the monotony of staring at the same pattern fabric on the seatback in front of me.

Today will be my 44th flight for the year , Frankfurt-Prague, (yes when bored on planes I count how many flights I've taken) Mostly with Lufthansa, as I spend a lot of time in Europe, but this year I've flown with: United, Continental, American, Air France, Estonian Air, Finnair, Thai, Qantas, Virgin Blue, CSA , Lot, Malev, Aeroflot, BA, BM.

I try to stick to Star Alliance, as I'm on the verge of Hon Circle, but also Skyteam, as I fly a lot with CSA.

My target this year is 150. I don't collect anything, just air miles. Just got free Rimowa luggage on points.

You guys all fly so much ! i think i am on my.... oh maybe 14th or 15th, but another half dozen segments in the next 6 or 8 weeks.

Yesterday - Armidale / Melbourne was my 35th flight for the year - Kiwi, are you counting planes or counting flights - for example, my different aircraft count would be closer to 60 as I hub through Sydney a lot - I also count Frankfurt to Melbourne as 1 flight, not two

Considering there have been only 109 days in this year, thats quite a number of flights. I don't know how you have that much time to make all the posts you do. I need to learn your method of time management

haha - I sat next to a consultant SIN / MEL the other week, he's retired oil exploration expert, working on contract to MOBIL (I think) and spends 2 weeks in London / two Melbourne so on so forth... he said he's been doing it for nearly two years. First name basis with the upstairs staff I would say.

After SIN-BNE tonight and BNE-SYD tomorrow it will be 28 flights for the year.

Very expensive hobby! Get a life John....

Lol. If I had a frequent flyer point for everytime I thought of that (referring to myself) then I'd have another trip to the UK and back in points methinks.

But I'm still addicted. Will be for quite a while yet, and IMHO it's a lot better than some other additions/hobbies that cost a lot more and yet give you nothing in return.

If its not planes (And i used to fly whern i lived in the country) then its cars !, the fast and expensive type :) well by my standard expensive, but not compared to a lot of peoples idea of expensive.

Currently my fast car is a truly fast Mitsu Evo 6, but in the past i have owned lots of skylines such as R34 GT-R, and even a toyo supra TT.

All i really wanted was one of those nice lancair planes, or a glassair but prefer the lancair as a much better finished product.

I thought I flew a lot, 20 flights (trips, not planes), and 21 tomorrow... how do you guys have time to even work when you arrive at your destination... unless you are a pilot lol..

Currently at 24, 3 more planned by the end of the month and another 6 in May, 13 in June ... all paid for and confirmed ...

Pre planning = less cost for fares and accommodation

Sometimes... My last trip to NYC, the hotel rates were astronomical. Only blitzed by the rates after I booked when they increased 100-200%! (I booked around 5-6 months in advance and monitored the rates)

Hmmm. I think we all have to face it. Now that the travel industry is recovering, the fares and hotel rates will continue to climb.

Currently looking at the possibility of attending Octoberfest in Munich later this year. Once again the hotel rates triple or quadruple from fairly high bases. And it's not getting cheaper!

Time management is the biggest issue, yesterday, up at 4.30am to get a 6am flight to Frankfurt, into the lounge at FF, work till 11am. Go to meeting in Sheraton at airport. Back to lounge at 3pm, work till 5.30 and get 6pm flight back to Prague. Back in hotel and work till midnight replying emails. Awake at 5.30 making calls to Australia.

It never stops, but on the other hand I get the week end, oh actually I don't as I fly to New York then.

Bugger. On the other hand I love it.

Always fly at the pointy end though. That makes a difference.

My count is number of flights not trips. Eg CMB-KUL-SIN counted as 2. On current plans I'll have another 35 or so flights before the end of May.

As for time management, multi-task a lot. Working during flights, and on way to and from airport. Use of computers in airport lounges. Etc.

I use my trusty old (new actually) Compaq with nearly 4 hours battery life (as long as you shut down background applications or you are not playing games) and as soon as I can, charge the beast again. I have considered a second battery, but then thought, some of my life must belong to me, so now, on a 8 hour flight, at least 4 hours are mine, then the next destination, charge for as long as I can then do a repeat.

I wont touch escalator rails - they are one of the most disease ridden items in the modern world, public computer keyboards follow a close second! (I can't remember where I got that fact). I don't know if this is associated or not, but I have not touched a escalator rail in two or more years - I have not been sick or had a cold in that time either!

It would be an extraordinary event for me to use an airport lounge computer for this reason. As a point of interest howerver, every QC I have been to, the network is easily accessed if you just plug and go! Mind you now with the free wireless in the QC at least OZ side there is no nee for that anymore.

Happy landings

Oops - might have confused you with winetraveller...
