Hi fellow travelers,
I’m pretty new to Etihad guest and was hoping I could get some advice from some seasoned travelers.

I will be travelling to Europe in August with Etihad, I was looking at the Amex Platinum offer online of 75000 points and noticed that Etihad were on the list of airlines that I could transfer points to. Does this mean that if I transfer these miles to Etihad that I can become a gold guest? I notice that unlike Qantas or Virgin that look for status credits, Etihad seem to just use miles?
I could be very wrong as again I’m quiet new to Etihad, would appreciate any suggestions or feedback if you have a moment.

I have travelled allot domestically with Virgin and have been a silver member for the past 2 years, but cannot seem to get to gold status. Is there a facility to transfer miles from Virgin to Etihad or anything? This may be a silly question but just asking incase, as iv 60000 virgin miles built up. I was trying to obtain gold with Virgin Velocity so I could use lounges etc but wont manage this before my trip to Europe.

Thanking you,
EuroFlyer

Hey mate,

I'm very new to this, but my understanding is that there is a difference between Guest Miles and Tier Miles. Your 75k in Amex MR points would be converted to Etihad Guest Miles, but it is Tier Miles you need to move into different tiers.

So basically you have to "earn" the Tier Miles, where Guest Miles you can effectively "buy". That being said, 75k is nothing to be scoffed at!

Hope this helps!

Thanks PapaRubbery
I appreciate the answer. That is what I had figured myself but thought Id ask anyways.

Thanks again and happy flying !
