Hi

Apologies if this has been addressed somewhere but I have searched the interwebs high and low over many months to no satisfactory avail.

I am flying on a CX ticket (QF metal SYD-ADL and then on CX from ADL-HKG). For those whose brains are frying right about now, going through Adelaide was cheaper than flying direct at the time of purchase, and I get more miles and status, so I see it as an overall win.

I have roughly 6 hours between filghts at ADL and am trying to figure out what to do during this time. Would anyone know if QF in SYD (it will be at the domestic terminal) will check me and my bags all the way through HKG? This will help me work out whether I need to wait around with my bag until check-in time, or if I will have time to do something.

The BNE airport website answers this question (somewhat) but I couldn't find something similar for ADL:

Luggage: transferring from Domestic Terminal to International Terminal
Unless your luggage has been checked through to your final destination, collect your bags, and make your way out to your chosen transfer option to move between terminals.

Appreciate any assistance from the brains trust, thank you.

It sounds like both flights are booked on the same CX ticket, so QF will check your bags through to HKG...

When you check in at SYD they should check your bags through to HKG.
You will have plenty of time to head into the City if you want

@couchlife , remember LAGs restriction will apply to your hand luggage after the SYD-ADL domestic sector...

I think AIRwin was referring to the ADL-HKG sector, which is the one after the QF DOM-DOM flight.

Yes, just in case @couchlife omits to check-in any LAGs in their hand luggage on the domestic sector...

If you don't have bags then Adelaide airport is close to a few things. You can be in the city in less than 15 minutes or Glenelg or Henley beaches. What time of day do you arrive and depart and do you want to shop, wander around or maybe visit the art gallery or museum. Happy to help with Adelaide suggestions

CX Departs 10.15pm so I’m guessing arrival later In the afternoon (day of week unknown)

J1 bus to the city or Glenelg is straight forward.

Sunday is half price bus fares
Day trip is around $10 or two hours bit over $5... taxi around $25 one way...

At that time of the day, you could be in the city between 5-6 pm so it starts to limit options of places to shop on weekends.

There is the riverbank and Adelaide oval, or a walk along the promenade.
If you’re here within the next few weeks, there’s the Epic Flight Centenary exhibition at the state library (open until 8pm MTW)

Probably not as likely but they could be on CX174 which departs at 1435 from ADL and they are coming in on the first SYD flight.

Thanks for all the replies... I didn't realise there were more replies after a certain point so I missed them.

I left SYD around 2pm and was on the overnight CX flight to HKG departing around 10pm.

Anyway, it turns out the initial QF flight was delayed a little bit, and I was a bit tired, so I ended up spending those hours in the QF lounge. Separately, that lounge is not as bad as many people on this forum make it out to be. It's not the best, but I found it wasn't so bad.

Also, I wanted to followup and confirm that yes indeed my bags were checked through all the way through from SYD to HKG, just as everyone had said.
