Question: AA flights earning QFF SC's....

It's a classic case of 'why fly direct if you can connect' - with a very rich dollop of the AA F cream on top .

And if you haven't been to Chicago, it's well worth a couple of days. It's a very interesting city.
Any place you can suggest to stay overnight? BTW was able to change fare from direct Lax to MIA, to LAX - O'Hare then MIA the cost difference is 3 AUD!! and that is the best SC earn ever. I get 90 extra SC for 3 dollars.

Many thanks to those who answered my original question. And fantastic engagement from others to broaden the topic. Excellent. Love it!

Another question to maximise Sc earn when going back from LHR to Melbourne is it better to take Dubai or via Singapore / Hong Kong for status earn?

Sweeeet deal :D.

I have no particular recommendation for accommodation but suggest looking for a good deal at one of the many hotels on S Michigan Ave opposite Grant Park fro great views and convenience to the main sights. If you are travelling solo and are into hostelling, the HI Chicago is excellent and is very well located a block back from S Michigan.

The Blue Line train is the easiest way to travel into the city from ORD, which is a fair way out. It's clean and safe and only $2.50 into town and $5 back out (or the other way round).

Be sure to do a boat tour of the Chicago River where they point out all the very interesting architectural splendour and history that Chicago is famed for - https://www.google.com.au/search?so...CAW_enAU360&q=architecture+river+tour+Chicago.

If you want a hip shared-plates place to eat, the Purple Pig near the river is the place to be - The Purple Pig Chicago.

And if you are into some out-there fun entertainment, don't miss Untitled, a really unique place in a cellar that's just a simple door at street level but much bigger inside - About | Untitled. Look for a night the 'Unbridled' show is on. My Chicago friend took me there late just for a drink and the show. Impossible to explain, but there's nothing like it anywhere else!
