QR withholding award seats from Qantas?

Wouldn't encouraging QF folks to redeem on QR be a good idea for QR though? They get to see how superior the QR J product is plus don't QF have to pay QR for the redemptions?

On the other side, FF seats aren't offered to your prime competitors to draw them away as that's not their purpose. The detriment is that it encourages QF FF customers to boost satisfaction with QF as they have access to the premium products elsewhere while not leaving the QF fold.

As for payment, they're already budgeted for so someone will pay for them anyway. And while QF may be making the payment, it's almost a token amount so not of any significance.

It would be interesting to know how Qatar's application to increase flights to Australia is going.
Naturally it has been aggressively opposed by Qantas .
Potentially , if the proposal is successful , it may reduce QR's "animosity" to QF and see an increase in J award offering available thru QFF.
Or maybe , all the extra award seats , if they become available , may simply go to Virgin Australia and British Airways!

and why not? Probably helps if you have a Paris or London apartment to stay in!
Getting there would be fine - coming back might be a bit of a gamble though. Could think of worse things than being 'stuck' in Europe though

Especially if you have a London or Paris apartment. We’re considering it!

has this partnership officially been given a bullet or would we expect to see any change in the future?
No change to respective OW membership of either QF and QR.

Who knows if and when the QR shenanigans will change.

The shenanigans won’t be changing anytime soon IMO.
Both airlines will dig their heels in

Agreed. Akbar Al Baker isn't happy with Qantas listening to his talk so it ain't changing any time soon, unless Qantas severs ties with Emirates which ain't going to happen from what he said. Virgin Australia has his support therefore.

shame those Q suites look mighty fine.
After flying QR again a few times last year I can fully agree. On board service and especially the food also puts both EK and SQ to shame as well.

However, Doha airport is a real s£#tshow. Which boggles my mind as it’s such a new airport. I dread each time I have to travel through it, Dubai or Singapore are so much nicer (as are other less common connector airports on the way to Europe).

A real mess during the usual transit time. Endless queues to get into the lounge, queues at the gates, queues at the Duty Free shops. Bad signage throughout as well, I’m just lucky to know the place by now.

Last time (October 22), even the toilets and showers in the Business lounge started to be badly maintained and rather dirty which used to not be a thing pre-Covid.
