The QR J companion sales are available again from Singapore to certain ports - and also possibly from other Asian cities. You have to book by 14 July and travel by the end of 2019. https://www.qatarairways.com/en-sg/offers/great-premium-offer.html

For example, you can do a return trip to Frankfurt in J for 2 for about Sin. $6,000 in August. For those who can get a cheap trip up to Sin this is a reasonable deal. It is no use for me as we are already booked on QR for a Stockholm/Oslo trip in August.

Ouch! A whopping SGD10900 for two to New York in October :(

Cheaper to fly from Oz.

Well, I did say certain ports :) That said, the best I can see on QR out of Perth in October for Per - NY - Per is around A$16,668 (and around A$21,000 out of Melbourne and A$19,000 out of Sydney) so still a reasonable saving.

thats aud$11,500 for 2 - we paid $18,000 for two CBR-JFK. So not cheaper to fly from Aus?

I meant cheaper to fly from australia (either direct or via asia) on another airline than fly to singapore to pick up this deal (as opposed to some of the $2000 J class fares sometimes available from asia).

Air china, china eastern, china airlines are all ~5000 return.

Oh OK - but they are not Qatar :)

From a parochial Perth point of view, none of these 'cheaper' airlines fly here - nor do Vietnam Airlines, Fiji etc. That is why we are giving a second try to ScootBiz Per -Sin to pick up QR, which worked fine the first time around.
