QR Business Class lounge in Doha utterly appalling

Isn't a hotel provided for QR J when over 8 hours? The transit hotel is convienient if not.

In my experience, Al Mourjan is anything but appalling.

There's a few hurdles to jump, primarily that you're connection of greater than eight hours is the shortest connection between your two flights. The airport transit hotel seems very nice but the couple of times I've checked rates, they have been exorbitant. I once queried the cost for six hours and was told USD225. My next question was whether or not it was Four Seasons. Ironically, I retired to Al Mourjan.

As Danger says they make it pretty difficult to take this up and these days it’s a hotel pretty well away from the airport or not at the best level ( ie the Oryx Rotana / avoid), so I didn’t bother last time

Have a two hour layover coming up. Do QFF award J flights (QR Metal) provide access to the Al Mourjan? I figured they do but just thought I should check.

Not sure two hours will be enough!

True. Depends on arrival/departure gates. 2 different experiences on my recent trip: no lounge going as the trek to and from the lounge would have eaten up too big a chunk of transit time. Homeward bound, we were bussed to a gate near the lounge and departed from a gate 10mins walk away so ample time.

Will see what happens with crossed fingers. :) Thanks for your prompt reply.

Great!

I'm arriving @ 6am. I usually prioritise a shower. Would this be advisable?

Me now >>> :)
Ask as soon as you arrive into the lounge. They are located past the ground floor eating area. They may say to come back in 15 minutes when it’s free but at least you are in the queue. I think there are others but these are the ones I used.

Quality of food have gone down a bit over the years but still palatable. After eating proceed down to the main level and get to one of the chairs by the wall. Pretty comfortable for with a cup of expresso!

I’m sitting in the Doha lounge right now noming away on a red chicken curry. Sure the chicken is a bit dry but the Sauv Blanc is cold enough to make up for it.

Think of it as Qantas lounge food in a 6 star environment. It really feels chill at the moment.

Anyway, off for my first QSuites flight now - I blagged a rear facing E seat so if no one next to me in F then double bed for the next 7 hours :)

I agree with the OP. The Al Mourjan lounge is very underwhelming. Certainly not as good as the BC lounge in the previous terminal and not a patch on Emirates' lounges in Dubai.

It is also annoying that QR does not honour OW Emerald flyers access to the First Class lounge, as other OW carriers do.

Well they'll provide access to a First Class lounge, just not the Al Safwa, and the Al Mourjan is better than the FCL in all respects.

BA started it with the Concorde Room / First Lounge split

Really? Im a little confused by people’s expectations and still wonder if we are talking of the same lounge.
