Hi all,

Flying out of MEL on Tuesday (20/11) for a 3 month trip to Europe. I intend to use the MEL (Dom) lounge for an hour or so before my flight to PER, but my parents are coming with me to the airport to say farewell. I understand there is a ONE guest limit, but I am hoping to get both my parents into the lounge. What are my chances? What are your experiences?

Any advice or help you can offer would be appreciated!

Cheers!

Similar situation flying to the US in September.

There was 6 of us - 1 x SG and 1 x QP member. At first they said no, we could only have one guest each...but eventually they gave in. :) (SYD T3 QP)

I'd say if you only wanted one additional guest, it'd take a pretty strict QP staffer to say no. You could always guest one in, then guest the other 5 minutes later.

Results may (and most probably will) vary. :) I'd imagine having QF WP would help too.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Just seeing your status in your profile it says QF NB. How are you accessing the lounge?

Oh...I am a (founding) member of AFF's QP Corporate Scheme! A minor detail ;)

I would say you stand a pretty good chance but as some would say, they are within their rights to say no. I have always found the QP staff to be very good with guests and quite lax in checking my BP to start with anyway. That was until DRW however, a bunch of evil cranky women who wouldn't let me walk in (a QP member) with a business class pax and a guest. It was a bit of an argument that J class was allowed entry but we won in the end. Needless to say, we were scowled at for the rest of the night.

But back on thread and I think you should be right, particularly if it's a busy time for the QP as lots of people are entering waving BP's. Worst case scenario, explain your situation as you go up the escalators to the person behind you and see if they're happy to play host in the worst case scenario.
