Could someone please tell me what the QP in Darwin is like and if it is worth the vist or would i be better walking around outside for a hour or so regards

As good as most other QPs in major cities. It has weird opening times though.

DRW is a small airport. Not much to see. Only a few shops (also tend to be closed if there are no flights around).

Note that the lounge is on the domestic side of DRW, so if you're in transit from overseas and on the international side - you won't get access.

I like DRW Qantas Pub - small, friendly staff and always an abundance of eye candy!

Ok - maybe not politically correct but lets face it - TRUE!

I think the DRW QP is terrible!
- it's usually packed when I go there (2:30pm weekdays with concurrent SYD and PER departures)
- the food's almost non-existent (3cm thick foccacia with 0.5mm of ham, anyone?)
- the coca cola machine there delivers coke that tastes like soda water
- the Telstra wifi stops half way through downloading podcasts for the flight
- there's no power points near the comfy chairs that I can find! (If anyone can tell me I'd be grateful!)

I usually go in there, check out if there's anything to eat (usually not) and then head back out to the public area. There's a power point near the Christmas Tree and Internode wifi that's faster and more reliable than the Telstra version. $10 at Red Rooster and you've got a better meal than you can get in the QP or the aircraft!

My one experience of the DRW QP was quite reasonable.

Nothing special but nothing awful. Our 0xx_ (something) JQ flight was delayed and they stayed open as long as they could to accommodate everyone.

what about if i am in transit from the domestic side and waiting to go international i have about 2,5 hrs to spare and the same on the return trip

I assume your refering to the Jetstar routes to DPS via DRW?

If so i have the same Q.. im flying in via BNE to DRW then out to DPS.. 3 hours or so in transit.. is the QP an option for me? (QP member)

you are right i am flying from melbourne so the stopover in the QP will be relaxing

Theoretically (havn't checked the JQ times and the QP opening times), the QP will be open (domestic), and you can lounge in there until about 10-20 mins before your flight starts boarding.

Then it's a quick trip through Customs and into a small area with a duty free shop, a coffee/snacks stand and maybe another store (can't recall).

Coming home, you will also get access - but again, depends on the time of the flights.

The Qantas Club website has the helpful advice of: "Opening Hours: Before Qantas departures". There's another post here somewhere discussing the usual hours - i'll try and dig it up.

Otherwise, give them a quick call on (08) 8920 4664 and ask for their hours.

I just walked in and can report:
- laptop bench: full
- lounges: 80% full (ie no table unless you want to share with 1 or 2 people)
- food: 3cm foccacia with 1mm ham
- eye candy: nil

So I'm back out in the public area at a table of my own with better wifi!

(I had to unplug the Christmas tree to get power but I don't think the kids will notice!)

I flew MEL DRW (JQ) 2 months ago arriving DRW around 4pm. Sign said it didn't open till around 11pm.

ie. They didn't open the lounge for the 2 connecting JQ flights to SIN and SGN.. which I thought was a little strange (and tight..)
