Hi there

I have been following this website for about half a year now (and have found the posts very informative for my pending overseas trip) and was hoping if someone could help me with my questions.

For my birthday, I was fortunate enough to receive 2 complimentary QP passes which expire at the end of June. I am not a QP member and I am a NB QFF member. There are no conditions on the complimentary QP passes regarding taking a QF flight in order to use the pass – the only condition that the QP complimentary pass states is that it is valid only for QF lounges & not for oneworld airline, partner airline or associated lounges.

In late June, I am taking the AA flight (QF codeshare) from MEL to LAX. I have a 5 hour wait between arriving in LAX and departing from LAX on an AC flight to Calgary (in terminal 2) and I was thinking of using the complimentary QP passes during the transit in LAX.

I was wondering if I can use these complimentary QP passes after my arrival for the temporary QP lounge in TBIT, notwithstanding the fact that my onward connecting flight is not with QF. Also, am I able to use these complimentary QP passes without having a QP member accompanying me? The passes seem to be valid even without having a QP member accompanying me.

If someone can also tell me what is the process upon landing to get to the TBIT QP lounge, any help in that regard would be appreciated (as this is my first time to LAX).

Finally, can anyone give me some idea how much time to allow myself to get from the TBIT QP lounge to get to terminal 2, check into my AC flight, go through customs etc. etc. to board the plane.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Kind regards

Patricia

Not even a Qantas Club member or a Qantas Platinum FF member can use the TBIT lounge on arrival. The lounge is "airside" and upon arrival you must go through immigration and customs which lands you land-side and the only way back airside is if you have a BP for a flight departing that day from that terminal.

You can use your invitation in MEL before departing.

You cannot get to the lounge after arriving at TBIT unless you hold a boardingpass for a same day departure form that terminal. Your onward flight is from T2, so you cannot use the TBIT lounge.
