On the airline point table, it says that status credits are earned on all eligible flights. So is it true that status credits are only earned on airlines that say Status credits are earned.... And not the ones that just have point exlusions or nothing at all?

Also, looking at the british airways part..could someone please explain the following to me, because I haven't been able to understand it

What I'm getting is, that discount economy flights between Aus and Bangkok,Singapore, London and Frankfurt won't get 0.25 points but 1 points per mile?

Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
*Exception: Travel in Discount Economy between:
- Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney and London or Frankfurt via Bangkok or Singapore
- Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney and Bangkok or Singapore
- London or Frankfurt and Bangkok or Singapore
will earn a Base Rate of 1.

airline partners that are not members of one world that may accrue QFF points (due to a partnership agreement) would not in general earn SCs (unless on a QF codeshare)

yup the kangaroo route earns 1 point per mile on either QF or BA

"..Earned on all elible fights" for a carrier means that If you are eligible to earn FF points in your travel class, you will also earn the approraite number of Status Credits for your flight/class/distance. If there is no mention of Status Credits for an Airline you will not get any, even if you do earn QFF points.

You are not confused, you are correct. BKK-SYD on BA in discount WHY will earn 1 QFF point per mile. LHR-HKG in discount WHY on BA will earn ¼ QFF point per mile.

This is due to an agreement between BA and QF on the so called "Kangaroo Route". It is often referred to as the "Joint Services Agreement" or JSA. IIRC, there is a sharing of pax/costs/revenue/services between BA and QF on that route.

And remember that the definition of an eligible flight may vary for the purposed for QFF points earning and for Status Credit earning. Same goes for the definition of discount economy vs full economy.

I'm more confiused now.

Does this mean if I fly Cathay (CX) I only earn QFF points and no status credits??

I was thinking of doing their Asia pass in business. But what's the point if no status credits?

No. You earn Status Credits on all flights that are eligible for SC earning. That includes all OneWorld operated and marketed flights so long as you have purchased an eligible fare type. Since CX is a OneWorld airline, so long as the flight is marketed and operated by CX, and you have an eligible purchased fare, then you earn status credits.

What you don't get on a CX flight is the bonus QF FF points they call the Status Bonus, where Platinum members get 100% bonus, Gold get 50% bonus and Silver get 25% bonus. That is only paid for QF, AA and BA flights.

Do you earn 100% miles on all eligible CX economy fares? I thought that I had read that points earning was only 25%, but can't find this reference.

I have an upcoming trip to PVG (in Y :() and am considering either QF via SYD or CX via HKG (I believe that the MU codeshare to/from MEL doesn't get lounge access in PVG). If CX only pay for 25% miles and I get the 100% bonus as WP then I would be a bit silly not flying QF.

Cheers. Unlikely to be a Y fare so looks like 50% miles if I fly CX. Don't think that a visit to the WING is worth the 75% reduction in points :-|

Hehe, I have been wondering about it for some time and it is nice to finally know. Thanks for answering :D

Travel with a CX flight number on oneWORLD metal in classes BHKLMV earns QFF point at ½ per mile, Class Y (as if  ) earns at 1 per mile, CDIJ at 1¼ per mile and AF at 1½ per mile.
AA will credit 100% miles for YBH fares and nothing below that. So if on a B or H fare and you have an AA account, its going make for better earning.
