I flew DEN-LAX today - and gee whiz, the DEN Admiral's club is much nicer than when I last visited in 2008! :p

On entry to the lounge, the AAngel informed me that I was entitled to two premium beverages from the bar. To redeem the beverages, I needed to mention this and show the bartender my boarding pass.

I only redeemed one drink, a glass of wine, and my BP was scanned at the bar register.

I don't know if this is across all Admiral's clubs, as this trip I've only been to the DEN Admiral's club (elsewhere have had access to the Flagship lounge and am typing this from the QF Flounge in LAX before QF16 tonight).

This may mean that drinks will be limited to two per eligible pax, unlike in the past with the paper chits. I did not ask/try for more than two.

Same system in place in the ATL AA lounge, but in DFW they were still handing paper chits. I didn't ask for more than 2 drinks in ATL, but that would be sad if you are limited to two premium drinks/bottled water.

Two chits for me in ATL and CLT. not sure if this is an OWE thing and QP/OWS get one?

So apart from the ‘optional’ $1 tip to get a cool glass of Stella it was all good. The bar area in CLT is really good and puts the ‘P’ in ‘QP’ to shame :p

PHX is also doing this now as well.

For many a year if I'd used the chit given on entry I go back to the desk and get more. Rarely an issue. I have read about the BP based ones recently and am thinking it may be the end of that.

I realise I need to tune in on this. Our first flights on AA this week. So as Emerald travelling in Y and with a long layover in Phoenix I need to know details. I think our luggage is free? And we get chits to purchase 2 drinks? Food? Help....

Checked luggage all good. Possibly free changes of flights on day of departure too if you need to go earlier/later. I’ve always found AAngels at the lounge and service desks very amenable to OWEs.

Well, limited to two premium drinks. It’s still unlimited house wine/beer/spirits. The paper chits were technically limited to two as well once the house booze became free (almost a decade a go). It’s actually surprising they are still giving any premium drink chits out, the house bar is comparable to a QF lounge.

3 bags limited to 23Kg (32 if in J).

Drinks and food are free in the lounge, you get two premium vouchers if you want something special (eg grey goose instead of their house vodka). Snacks are free, nothing substantial but comparable to a QP. At least you have the option to pay for a meal (Unlike QF).

You also get main cabin extra seating for free which has slightly more legroom and you get free alcohol - though you get that anyway being emerald.

OWS get them too. AA don’t really treat sapphire / emerald any differently in their lounges (both get access to flagship lounge too).

I’m OWE but found them just as good when I was OWS. I think they are just good at their jobs - not saying QF aren’t, but they seem hit/miss.

When it was paper chits, just meant going back to the desk to get more. Haven’t experienced the new system yet.
