Surprisingly just got one mid-week (normally don't get).

100 points to sign up for the automatic Woolworths Gift Card. Have to skip this one I think...

Look like the take up of this is not what they expected. Nor should it be given the relatively poor value for most members.
Dear serfty,

Now you can redeem your Qantas Frequent Flyer points for a Woolworths Gift Card automatically.

Just sign up to Auto Rewards to redeem your points for a Gift Card that will be sent straight to your door every 3 months^, so you'll be rewarded more often.

You only need 750 points to receive a $5 Woolworths Gift Card. And when you register, we'll give you
100 BONUS POINTS*
to get you even closer.

Thanks for shopping with us!

Hurry, offer ends Sunday 11 December 2011!

Wonder if you can sign up, get the 100 bonus points and then de-register once they've hit your account? Can't seem to find in the T&C's if the gift card gets issued at the end of the 3 month period after signing up.
I guess it's not worth worrying about as I would never exchange 3000 points for $20

Same offer but 400 points, would be interesting to try what PF has suggested.

I got the same offer as serty - 100 points. Also fleetingly thought about signing up to get the 100 points and then cancelling, but that thought only lasted a nano second - not really worth it for 100 points.

Yes just received this for all of my cards

200 points x 2
100 points

Was on offer

I think I will opt-in and then opt-out straight away

Re: EDR Targetted Bonus Point Promotions

They are really desperate to have people convert 750 points into $5 voucher. No thanks....

woeful redemption...

Example: -
  • Average Family Spend $175/wk at their local Woolies ($9,100/p.a)
  • Points harvested 145 QFF/wk (~7,500/p.a)
  • Redemption 7,500 QFF (5 x 1500 @ $10 ea. = $50)
  • Redemption percentage of total spend ((50 ÷ 9100) x 100 = 0.549%)
pretty underwhelming offer to say the least

It's about the same as redeeming credit card points or Qantas FF points for a gift card/credit on your account!

Qantas FF 3750 points for a $25 gift card  = 0.6% return
Woolies EDR 3000 points for $20 gift card  = 0.6% return
Comm Bank 4500 points for $25 gift card :shock::shock::shock: = 0.5% return

Comm Bank 4500 points for $25 gift card :shock::shock::shock: = 0.5% return
... and they are all awful returns.

Those redeption rates are just woeful. And I am not ready to stop flying yet either....

My partner received an offer with 400 points off. That's not a bad deal if you can sign up and then quit. It means that you get $5 for 350 points or about 1.43 cents per point which is ok. That means for a Sydney-Melbourne flight worth 1000 points you are getting about a $15 discount at that rate which sounds ok.
Not worth keeping once the initial deal is over though.

Really not sure who would really take up this offer....

Quite possibly the most lame offer out there for the use of points....a $25 Gift card once every three months for HOW MUCH...! Crazy stuff this...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

People that are not likely to ever amass enough points (or will take a long time) to qualify for a free flight.

Pointless program for these people...but I guess they get to feel like they are getting something for dare I say it "Nothing"

The next mail out of the gift card is 1 Feb, so plenty of time to cancel after opting in.

Yeah, signed up to it but was only offered 200 bonus points ... Still easier than going and shopping for one of the weekly reward offers to earn a similar amount... Hopefully it is just as easy now to opt out after staying in it for a few days to ensure the bonus is registered...
