QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

I tried my luck
24/3/27, 25/3/27, 26/3/27 MEL/NRT and MEL/SIN but unsuccessful
So 11 months in advance, no luck on MEL/NRT? That's crazy! I want to do this for May 2027 so just 2 months after you. I assumed I'd have no problem but now I guess it won't happen.

Were you asking for just 1 business seat?

The thing is there are still a lot of Qantas Platinum members...

You’ve also got sites like AFF and Point Hacks promoting it for clicks & views, so it’s not really a “hidden” perk anymore. That just leads to more people trying their luck requesting seats which I'm sure Qantas notices too.

And at the end of the day, Qantas is a business. If they think they can sell the seat for cash, they will — rather than releasing it at a discount.

Asking for flights to Japan in peak Cherry Blossom Season is always going to be tough and there will have been heaps of P1s/WPs requesting seats. It becomes blackout period as well once they release a certain amount of seats across late March and early April.

Yes, I am mindful that is incredibly hard due to Easter plus cherry blossom season. Probably easier if it’s May onwards.

We have back up reward seats MEL/BNE/SIN as there are some for Easter Friday but will see if trying my request of seats for the direct flights pays off

@hakkinen5 as a FYI, I tried for 3 Y seats but no go, but again, I suspect it’s the date which is the main issue

WGA-SYD-AKL return in August. Requested specific flights for my hubster as I'd booked a DSC weekend. Requested both business and economy as SYD-AKL flight showed I3 and AKL-SYD I1 and I wasn't hopeful But business was approved both ways.
