QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

BTW is there somewhere that I can look up how many points are needed for a seat before ringing the priority line and asking for the seats to be released? On some routes (e.g. HKG-SYD) there often aren't any seats available on any dates for months to use to get the data.

Edit - ignore this - I think that I have just found it!
Same points in either direction (68,400 in Biz). Plus HKD$760 HKG-SYD or A$166 SYD-HKG.

Actually quite a bit of availability, but does get snaffled quickly after it’s block released. No drama getting 2x J each way DIY for later in the year once I worked out the pattern for releasing seats….

Here's a spreadsheet which you can make a copy of to quickly look up points costs too. I've added in the new costs from August as well.

No joy trying to get a J seat released on either QF30 (HKG-MEL) or on QF128 (HKG-SYD) on Wednesday June 4th - any advice?

For international seat release bookings, where the domestic connection is knocked back by the robot...

The written policy is that the domestic connection can be manually forced in as long as C class is available for J, or S class is available for Y, on the domestic on a standalone basis (eg. looking at just SYD-MEL separately as if it were a new commercial booking).

The agent needs to call a team coach to have this done. Regular agents don't have the access to do it.
I've got a SYD-HND J request confirmed, but need to get a MEL-SYD same day connection.

Called twice and only got Cape Town (not Hobart).

They can't call a team coach, only put in the request. From their end they are seeing no availability for any suitable times (ie the only ones they can see are too late).

Is this a matter of HUACA, hoping I can get someone from HBA?

Dropping from P1 sucks 😭

What do you mean you didn't get Hobart? Qantas advertises it as a WP benefit:
PS: I haven't got Hobart in the last 10 months that I tried to call Qantas.1745916465013.png

Who did the initial release request? HBA? CPT?

18 february
AKL-BNE connecting with flight from JFK in business.
Biz sale yes
I3
approved.
First call - agent useless - did not know how to apply for plat release and just kept saying "no award seats available" !! Gave up arguing with her.
Second Call - request done quickly and came thru.

5th June - Y on QF2057 approved which enabled me to do all on points -

QF2050 then QF29 outbound, and CX163 then overnight in MEL then QF2057 to DPO - all in Y but being daytime flights I'm OK with that - after taxes etc saved about $1040 vs the current HKG sale fares and avoided the overnight QF30 back to MEL - was about 69000 points and $493 in taxes etc all up.

While there are the "odd" X seat (economy classic award) on the PER-SIN QF route there never seems to be two available (and rarely one). Number one son and partner could use some assistance in getting to Singapore to start their next holiday.
Are there more success stories in getting Y award seats released (If Classic Plus is available)

Sometimes my offspring considers wandering

How often does this happen - that you get put through to an agent who doesn’t know how to request a release?

Is he WP?

If yes, then depends on loads and the dark arts of yield management.

If no, then seat release isn’t possible.

Sometimes. The guy I had on the phone today was damn hard to understand due to his accent, he seemed to have a bit of a clue but I had to guide him a bit - he was just going to just book the sector that I needed the seat released on and then send the booking through to me for me to add the other sectors to.
