Hi, I'm fairly used to airlinespeak these days but occasionally can't quite get my head around some of it, hence the clarifications/confirmations sought below, if you please. :)

Question 1:

Business Sale Fare rules: (my bolding)

Travel Class

Business

Minimum Stay

Nil

Maximum Stay

12 Months

Stopovers

1 stopover permitted in each direction at a charge of A$100 per stopover, plus any additional charges and taxes. Stopover not permitted in Australia.
Note: If this fare is combined with another fare the most restrictive stopover conditions apply.

Booking Changes

Before and after departure:
Except where no show fee applies:

Return booking changes can be made online at qantas.com/yourbooking. To make changes to one-way bookings, multi-city bookings, or to make changes via phone, call 13 13 13. For changes made over the phone you must pay the service fee applicable as at the date of the change.
Itinerary changes permitted. At the time of making the change, you must pay (per person per change):
the itinerary change fee (no charge for infant paying 10% of the fare)
any fare difference

Name Changes

Not permitted.

No Show

A no show fee of A$300 per person applies.
Additional local service fees and taxes may apply, plus any fare difference.

Cancellations (including no show)

Before and after departure:
Except where no show fee applies:
No refund.

This fare may be used as credit towards the payment of any higher fare from the point of origin, provided the new fare conditions are met. A reissue fee of A$200 per person applies. If the new fare is cancelled the original fare cancellation conditions will apply. This credit must be used within 12 months of the original tickets date of issue.
Any credit is the Australian dollar price.
Note: If this fare is combined with another fare the most restrictive cancellation conditions apply.

Children / Infants

Discounts apply for infants (under 2 years) and children (2-11 years). Discounts are based on the fare type and the fare amount (excluding surcharges, fees and taxes) paid by the adult travelling and, for infants, whether they occupy a seat. Surcharges, fees and taxes that apply are then added. The exact total will be quoted once you have selected your flights.
Infants must be accompanied, with a maximum of one infant per adult travelling.

Qantas Frequent Flyer

Points and Status credits may be earned on this fare
Flight Upgrade Awards are eligible on this fare.Flight Upgrades can only be redeemed on Qantas operated flights.
This fare is classed as Business when Status credits are earned or when points are redeemed for a Flight Upgrade Award.

Other Information

For bookings made through Qantas Telephone Sales, Airports and Qantas Travel outlets, a booking fee applies.
Note: These fare rules apply for bookings from 20 April 2013. For prior bookings, view applicable fare conditions.

I read this as:

1. I cannot make changes to the booking
2. I can cancel the booking for AUD300 plus any incidental fees

Do I have this right or have I got the wrong end of the stick (very possible)?

Question 2:

Is the extract from the earnings table pasted below telling me I cannot earn points or SCs if booked on QF codeshare flight no. on EK metal? A dummy booking suggests I 'could' (as WP in J) earn ~18K points MEL-SIN-MEL, booked on the QF codeshare on EK metal, but that does not, for me, marry with the text below (especially the bolded bit, sorry about the formatting).

Emirates (EK)* BGHKLMQTUVX Discount Economy 0.50 -
ERYW Economy 1 -
CIJO Business 1 25%
AFP First 1 50%
Excluded: Points are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by an airline other than Qantas.
* Points can only be earned on flights with an EK flight number, subject to regulatory approvals.

Advice much appreciated - thanks.

I'll deal with Question 2!!

If you are booked on a QF flight number, regardless of who operates it, you need to consult the point rules for QF. The EK earnings chart is for when booked on an EK flight number.

i.e. The column on the left with airline names refers to the Marketing Carrier

D'oh! Thanks for that. The (odd) concept of not earning to QFF on a QF flight number should have pointed me in the right direction. I think I'll just file that one under 'clangers' and move on.

But Q1 is also one I definitely want to know the answer to if anyone can assist.

Maybe you're getting confused with all the no show stuff.

But ignoring that - it looks like you can change it, and you can cancel and get a credit.

Although, if you do a no show, then try to do anything, there's $300 taken out straight away!

You're not wrong about that!
