I am considering booking a QFF award flight for a Mini-NM (not so mini these days). Will involve EK from BNE to SIN connecting onto 3K to PNH. All booked as a single Classic Award. I assume that as this would be booked as a single QFF Classic Award ticket that the standard 20KG of checked baggage will apply and that bags can be through-checked at BNE to PNH. Anyone able to confirm this assumption?

I am 99% sure that your assumption is correct.

Hope so .... its booked :). She will have a 5 hour connection in SIN though, so should be plenty of time if she does need to re-check bags. I have connected QF to 3K in SIN and had bags through-checked, so hopefully should be ok.

Unfortunately no FF award availability for the return, so she is banished to AK/D7 for the return.

Now to figure out how to her to MUC and back in August. I wish there was this much travel involved with being a university student when I was studying.

We did a QFF reward trip last year BNE-PER-DPS-SIN-BNE on QF, JQ, 3k and EK and checked baggage was included on all legs.

I have done a BNE-SIN-BKK economy award on EK and 3K in the past and have another award booked later this year. Luggage allowance is 30kgs and bags are checked through. Worst case scenario is a visit to transfer D to manually transfer luggage through if not through checked.

To close the loop here ...

EK flight from BNE to SIN was delayed by about 4.5 hours (2:35am became 7:00am departure). Still allowed about 1:45 connection in SIN so no disruption. Appreciated phone call notification from EK the previous afternoon so we didn't need to drive to the airport until early the following morning. She was assigned bassinet row at check-in (no infants requiring it) and has 3 seats to herself for the BNE-SIN leg. Again for SIN-PHN she has a row to herself (light load).

Boarding pass for 3K flight SIN-PHN had to be collected in SIN, but no problems doing so.

Bag was checked through BNE to PHN without issue.
