Re: QF94 (1 July) return

ouch. Looks like an expensive repair job with all that water damage.

Wonder if they can get Airbus to pay for it.

Re: QF94 (1 July) return

Wow… that appears a serious leak.

That aircraft must be cursed!

Re: QF94 (1 July) return

On board slip-n-slide ?

Re: QF94 (1 July) return

Unfortunate on so many fronts - unfortunate for the pax who will have their flights and plans disrupted - unfortunate for QF as any problem with equip they use imm becomes THEIR prob regardless of reason or cause - unfortunate for QF as again somehow someway they will be painted / highlighted by the media as airline who just keeps experiencing problems - so unfortunate on so many fronts.

And at the risk of being told to lighten up a bit I just find it so difficult to see humour in any problem experienced by a commercial aircraft or any aircraft for that matter in flight - maybe there is seriously something wrong with me?

Re: QF94 (1 July) return

Lucky they were only an hour in, if they were closer to home it'd be an unpleasant few hours.

Question - is this the same A380 that had problems with no water on the flight to DXB? I wonder if the issues are related?

The second matter is just an observation... the Qantas pilot 'decided' to return to LAX 'in the interests of passenger comfort'. It almost sounds like Qantas is trying to say it was going 'above and beyond' in being considerate by deciding to turn back. I don't think there should have been any options on the table... it seems like there should have only been one course of action... to return?

Re: QF94 (1 July) return

Jokes about european plumbing aside, have any other A380 operators experieced a lot of problems with A380 fresh water and toilet systems? I don't think that it is a coincidence that the airline which fiddled the most with a refit to more seats and less toilets is having numerous problems with water systems now. I can see these being hangar queens in a few years time.

I read that more as there was nothing mechanically wrong with the plane in terms of it's ability to stay in the sky, so there was no actual danger in terms of the aircraft and no emergency landing. It's just 14 hours in a virtual swimming pool would not be a pleasant experience for their pax.

I think water any place that it shouldn't be in an aircraft is a potential hazard. I recall a galley sink problem caused severe electrical outages (in a 747) a few years ago.

QF94 burst water pipe.

QF94 last night turned back to LAX with a burst water pipe, flooding most of Premium Econ.
Sketchy details so far. Media will be all over it soon enough.
Sorry if already posted, but couldn't find it anywhere else.
Safe travels.

Yes, I think it is. I was on that aircraft last year.
If flight tracker is accurate it was VH-OQD "Fergus McMaster"

Triggers thoughts of the classic Deacon Blue song ... Fergus Sings the Blues.

On a more serious note, given the video footage which was shown on ABC TV this morning and the fact that there are electronics all over the plane I'm amazed that a Qantas were so quick to state that "there were no safety concerns for passengers on-board."

It was not a good look!
