We're travelling from NZ on new years eve and picked up some bargain J fares for three of us, my little mate is two and I was hoping someone who has flown J on QF8771 From:AKL To:BNE would know the best three seats together for two adults and one child please.

I like looking out the windows even though the windows are tiny up there. Chose 16A to have a view more clear of the wing but table wouldn't work so ended up on the other side of the cabin further back, not a problem. But I've not had to account for a youngin when picking seats.

I think where you sit depends on what your preferences are. I think with a 2yo I'd prefer an adult in say 16 A, 16E and the 2yo in 16F. You're more together in rows like this rather than the E, F seats forward and back as you'd be more separated from the 2yo. But then the adults could still talk to each other easily?

Check out the above link to seatguru to check layout, then go to you tube and go EK a380 business class and wait til they do a walk around of the cabin and you'll get a feel for the layout.

I'm flying QF8763 AKL-SYD in J with my wife and 2-year old daughter on Monday. The strategy we have chosen is one adult in seat A, the kid in E and another adult right next to them in F, as we like to sandwich her between us. I'll report back on our experience next week.

As you can tell from the seat map NZflygirl posted, the E & F seats are right next to each other (and much closer together than D & G), so the E & F pair would seem to be the obvious choice for the child and one of the adults in your party (from experience, a 2-year old needs pretty much constant help with the IFE, toys falling on the ground, eating etc. so it's good to be as close as one can). The second adult will never be all that close, but the A & K seats next to E & F again seem like the obvious choices.

You'll notice how it's different to the link you posted earlier.

The screenshot shows odd numbered seats next to the window, and the two class link shows even numbered seats next to the window.

Yes i see now thanks guys

I chose 23A, 22D, 22G in the interim as they're listed as good seats, look forward to seeing the reports from the members above

Reporting back on my experience, as promised - we had seats 9A, 9E & 9F and were happy with our choice. As per my original post, it was vital for one of us to be right next to our daughter to constantly help her with whatever she needed. Furthermore, we found seat A pretty well aligned with the E/F pair, allowing all of us to communicate while seated.

Boylero, based on yesterday's experience I would not recommend the combination of seats you've chosen - D & G are quite far from each other, making it hard for one of the adults to help the child. I've attached a photo showing E/F in the foreground, D/G in the middle and E/F in the background, which hopefully helps you see my point (apologies if the photo doesn't attach properly, my first time doing this!): EK seats.jpg

I also note you have chosen seat A in a different row. I would suggest that if you still want to go with a row with D & G seats, pick another row where you can pick a B or J seat in the same row as these make it easy for the two people sitting along the aisle to converse (we had a family with a much older child choosing just this combo on our flight).
