the time in the AIR on LST-MEL is quite a bit longer than SYD-CBR.
LST-MEL distance: 296 miles
CBR-SYD distance: 147 miles
Quite right but never-the-less we are talking about flight times (and ability to get a service done).
QF scheduled flights SYD-CBR are variously 50 or 55 mins.
QF and JQ scheduled flights MEL-LST are 1hr 5 or 10 mins.
I was actually surprised that the time difference was a long as it is. Once you chop off the climb/descend no service parts of the flight, the 'service' window is pretty small in both cases.
I'm old enough to remember when some HBA-MEL flights stopped off at LST on the way! That's 90 miles and I'm pretty sure there wasn't a drinks service
