So a catering car crashed into the wing of our A380 at LHR today. Needless to say it didn't take off. I was at the airport for about 8 hours as I already had a long layover from Germany. Apparently they are fixing it overnight, but I find it slightly concerning to fly on one with possible wing damage - QF1 was out of action for months as part of it's wing/engine repairs.
Tried with QF service centre to rebook on QF metal as I'm really not liking these codeshare flights and will never book again. Seating options are cough, cannot access other OW lounges, difficulties and confusion about baggage with other OW members, to name a few. People on here have felt some upgrade love from EK, but to me it doesn't really feel like I get anything as SG on EK apart from lounge access. Business and First got priority at the buses and got put into the Sofitel, but there was nothing for Skywards/QF elites.
Didn't really get much info from EK ground staff, apart from a sheet with a number to call at 9am. Tried speaking with QF on the phone and requested a QF metal flight. QF would only offer me one with a 14 day layover/wait. This is pretty poor, so I am at the mercy of EK tomorrow. I would've been happy to fly via LAX, JNB, NRT, SIN, HKG, BKK or whatever to get back on a QF/OW with a decent Y seat instead.
Having trouble uploading pics, one of the actual incident to follow.
Anyone completed a claim for 261/2004 before? Apparently we may be entitled to 600EUR?
