Qf8

For Int SYD connections, QF8 definitely! But as others state allow enough connection time.

If flights becomes QF-late, you can check flight status for BNE arrival, then ask QF to move you to domestic flight before you leave home.

If you have an international connection, you could also consider QF20 BNE-SYD (depending on the day of the week). It's an earlier departure than QF8, but it also gives you the chance to switch to QF8 (or a domestic service) if there are any delays (and you particularly want to use the international terminal or have an A330/747).

Otherwise, go domestic and enjoy an hour or two of extra sleep! ;)

I've done QF8 3 times (2 as domestic hops, one as an int'l connection) and QF20 once (connection) - they are a nice change to the standard domestic flights, but if your schedule for that day is time critical (or you need to carry liquids >100ml), domestic is best. :)

If you don't have checked luggage you can just OLCI then arrive at BNE Intl terminal & head directly through customs. Beware that security often weigh your carry on luggage so make sure each piece doesn't exceed 7 kilos.

If you do have checked luggage you can use the dedicated OLCI checkin queue unless you have elite status that enables you to use the Business Class checkin.

*Edit* just noticed you're QF SG so you can use the J checkin.

I'm looking to use QF8 for BNE-SYD as I have an international connection from SYD.

The scheduled departure time from DFW is 10pm, which is 2pm in BNE - is that correct?

If so, I would have plenty of time the day before my flight to discover if QF8 has indeed morphed into QF-Late and arrange to be changed to a domestic connection.

It's a ~16hr flight so you'd have plenty of time the day before to assess your options.

The hard one will be if it's only ~ 1hr late and whether QF will move you or think they will make time.......

It's a great option for connecting to flights leaving SYD later in the day. If it's going to be late QF will text you very early in the morning!

QF8 is my favourite early morning service for BNE-SYD. If you have a lot of weekends in Sydney (flying out Saturday morning and coming back Sunday night) this flight is fantastic, gets you in early and is the cheapest in all the classes. It has the novelty of being on a B747 domestically and the product regardless of class is better. There's even really good award availability should you choose to use your points on a short dom leg.

Thanks for the replies all. It's an hour connection, but that is as advertised on the QF web site, so hopefully all will be well. I'll check the flight status before I go to bed and judge whether I need to sleep with my phone or not!

1hr should be enough as you've already "left" the country in Brisbane.

Beware of course the international checkin cutoff times in Bne which occasionally catches people out.

All good this morning. QF8 is showing as an on time departure from BNE. It will be a novel experience flying BNE-SYD on the 744 :).

I got to do it in 2006 from the domestic terminal on a BNE-SYD flight. When I got to the gate, saw the broncos with the NRL trophy coming out.

Glad you made it! I noticed from the flight departure monitors on Monday night that there were going to be 2 QF8s operating on Tuesday morning as one of them was running 24 hours late!
