Hi all

Am flying to JNB next week on QF63. Last time I flew this route about 9 months ago the 747 was not refurbed. Now that a greater proportion of the fleet has had the makeover, what are my chances of getting a refurbed bird for this flight? IMHO the refurbed cabin makes a big difference on a flight of this length.

Cheers!

What are the classes for sale? If all 4 classes are being sold, chances are unlikely you will end up on a refurbed bird, as they are only 3 classes

Worth checking the seat map for your specific flight as an indication of what's currently planned for next week. JNB is not a route that has been advertised as receiving the refurbished 747s - they do appear sporadically, however.

Thanks for that. What am I looking for on the seat map to tell me whether or not it is refurbed?

The Upper Deck Exit Row in J is a give-away, as I believe it is 16 for a non-refurbed, but 14 for the refurbs for one.

And, if I've understood a post from serfty correctly, if there's no row 4, the aircraft has been refurbed.

You can also look at the downstairs J set up. If row 1 is single seat then its the non refurb and you should aim for this cabin as you have the old F seats with J service. Vastly superior to the Mk1 beds on the rest of the plane.
