Anyone see the loads for QF36 (22 Feb) and QF35 (09 Mar)?

Looking at the seat map this far out, seems that downstairs Y is almost vacant (70%+ empty)

I have 66G (bulkhead) on QF36 and 35K (upper deck exit - window) on QF35 (this was a freebie exit row Qantas put me in due to schedule change).

Obviously, if the loads are that low, it would make more sense to try and snag a row of 3 or 4 (coming/continuing to London, so rest is nice).

Hi davem,

According to EF, the 36 is not exactly "light":
F9 A7 J9 C5 D0 I0 W9 R9 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M0 L0 G0

The 35 is wide-open:
F9 A8 J9 C9 D9 I0 W9 R9 T7 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X9

Regards,

BD

Seat maps are a poor indicator of flight loads.
The availability in each fare bucket, which BD provided above, is a better indicator, but still has some issues. eg, according to the current QF35 numbers, QF appears to be selling 17 First class seats, yet they don't have 17 seats in the cabin.

As Qantas charge non elites $35 for seat selection on sales fares then it’s difficult to draw conclusions on loadings from seat map, given many people choose to play pot luck rather than pay $35.

Thank you all.

Looking good for the QF35, which will be good as a 3:30am wakeup for BNE-MEL (before MEL-SIN-LHR). A little sleep there will do well if there is space.

I should be able to sleep in 66G, just pray there is no crying infant :(

Can't wait for that first good coffee in the QF lounge :)

According to the EF seatmap you already have a neighbour next to you on the 35 - plenty of leg room though, obviously!

That is not how it works the 8+9 does not mean they are selling 17 seats it means they are selling 9 at full F or 8 at discount F. If you buy 1 at F then 1 at A will also disappear.

And I think if an unlikely group of 9 people were to book first class, the fare for all 9 of them will be in full F as there are only 8 available in A fare class?

Yep, all we can tell here is that there are at least 9 seats available in each class.

However ... given high availability in lower buckets. Would indicate there are much more empty seats than 9.

As above, while it may appear to be the case, it isn't:

Understanding Expert Flyer
F6 A6: Qantas are willing to sell up to 6 seats in the Fist Class cabin. This at either the full rate (F) or discounted (A). This does not mean that there are 12 seats available. Note that currently, Qantas First class cabins have 14 'seats'. What would normally happen if someone booked on the flight into one of these code is that both numbers would reduce, i.e. it goes to F5 A5.

Looking at the actual loads....the 36 is about 90% and the 35 at about 65%. So, by the day, I'd expect the 36 to be chockers, and the 35 to end at about 80%. So, quite healthy loads.

Thanks for the info!

Wow 90+%, this will be the fullest long haul I have been on :-o

Shame I'm not in an upgradable bucket (o class). So many points to burn !

Also have to look at day of the week - and yes on QF36, Friday night out of SIN, would expect it to be very full and the return out of MEL on a Saturday lunch time should also be well patronised. Would expect lighter loads midweek.

As above. Seatmaps are very poor indications of load.. Specially taking into account sold but unassigned seats - usually with groups and non elites not wanting to pay for an assignment. As confirmed the actual loads are fairly heavy.

The other side of that coin can be seats showing as unavailable which may be due to status blocks rather than actually being assigned.

The 36 last Sunday was 100%....

Been looking at getting back to MEL since the 18th of Jan, and it seems 36 & 38, the EK and JQ flights, and the 4-5 daily SQ flights from SIN-MEL have all been full, or fairly close to it, in terms of selling tickets ... even Scoot has only been selling fares without luggage or food for about $1000 one way (no thanks). Same with flights to SYD.

May not be helpful for this discussion but QF35/QF36 is the flight Qantas encourages for connections to/from BNE/SYD when going overseas sometimes cheaper than the direct flight from those cities.

In my opinion A380 beats A330 any time easily.
