Spotted an interesting Qantas flight running between SYD & BNE on Tuesday mornings at the moment:

QF333 is an Airbus A330-300 service. It continues from BNE to APW but you can book just the SYD-BNE portion. Pricing is much better than the other regular Boeing 737 flights around that time, there's award availability in both Y and J, and I assume the QF F lounge in Sydney is open from 5am on Tuesday mornings ;)

The return flight QF340 operates non-stop from APW to SYD, so there's no equivalent BNE-SYD flight.

You can also book a ticket from SYD or BNE to APW if you want, and there's lots of award availability. Samoa reopened to tourists last week.

Having done this recently (involuntarily, I may add):

- Expect delays
- Flight will post as ineligible and require manual follow-up with the FFSC. I suspect this relates to DFAT chipping in for the costs
- BNE airport wasn't expecting us, so gates to Passport Control were closed due to no other international flights

If you have anything critical scheduled that morning, avoid!

That'll commence boarding about 5:45am ...
The real reason not to do that flight! 😮

I‘ve only ever once got a sparrows flight out of SYD T1 (to NZ I think). We had to wait for the roller door to open to immigration around 5:30a (it actually opens earlier now!). I have zero recollection of the FLounge - I was probably half asleep... I have never been tempted to catch QF8415 (EK) even though it’s usually the cheapest….

The EK lounge in SYD is open from 4-6am, I wonder if you could visit there if on this flight?
QF J/F lounges open at 5am. Sufficient time to woof down an eggs Benedict. The OMG it’s early crowd for EK415 should have left before you finish an espresso martini (my morning coffee of choice there 🤣).

Qantas had been operating to/from Samoa to bring seasonal workers to Australia. I assume they've decided to continue this service and and in addition sell fares to the public.

It looks like from November this changes to twice weekly and flight number moves from QF333 (gov sponsored) to QF197.

Wonder if this flight will continue once Virgin resumes flights to Apia in March 2023, and what will happen with Qantas' Sydney-Tonga service on Thursdays.

Looks like this will change to a Saturday (and sometimes Thursday) service from November. The SYD-BNE leg will be retained, with an 0600 departure time.

Tried looking for this flight for Oct / Nov but can’t seem to find it any longer?

Running on Tuesday (25/10) with a 0625 departure. Same day return at 1740 APW-SYD non-stop. Next is I think Thursday (03/11). Then 10th, 17th... + some Saturdays like Mattg said above. I can see in ITA and on QF website.AF333.PNG
