QF330 or EK777 in J BKK-SYD

I don't think it's so much a mattress as a simple seat topper to smooth out the seat surface for sleeping. This was offered when I flew MEL-SIN last Christmas; you may have to ask the crew if it's not proactively offered.

I've been flying QF J 333 to CGK and SIN at least once or twice a year since 2010, was never offered a mattress/duvet/seat topper/smoothener/whatever even once, though my last flight was in May 2013. Neither did I see anyone else in the cabin ever receive it. Perhaps this is a recent enhancement (in the true sense of the word lol) that took place in the last year or so. Maybe someone else can confirm.

It's not new, just not being offered. I remember the first time when I saw the mattress on other pax seats after waking up I was a bit upset not being told about it but since then I always remember to ask for it.

I don't know about SYD-BKK but this year I've flown both QF and EK for MEL-SIN and EK for MEL-KUL.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the EK seats because each time I've flown with them I've been op-upped to F!! so definitely a fan of that possibility.

As for QF I have to say that there's something really comforting about stepping on board a plane and hearing an Aussie accent. It's like arriving home before you really are. And overall I feel that the QF service tops EK (even in F). Not that I'm complaining but my meal order on my last EK flight wasn't taken till 2:30 into the flight. Not a big deal as I'd had a nice FLounge treat beforehand but they weren't to know that or the fact that I didn't want to sleep on the flight. First world problems I know. Just my 2c worth.

QF52 a few weeks ago and we had the mattress fitted by the crew ... they were very proactive and had the whole cabin fitted prior to meal service.

They did the same in June on QF24 BKK-SYD; the crew were very pro-active and I was impressed with their service.

Flight was full, but didn't feel rushed in any way; I usually fly Y this route, but couldn't get a seat. Have flown J a few times with QF, before they changed to MKII beds and *never* got a good nights sleep. They may not be "fully-flat" but at least I'm *not* sliding down the seat supporting my weight on my legs anymore.

Certainly no CX J, but it was a good flight. I will admit, I've flown EK in the past, and I'm still waiting to be "blown away" by their *superior service* - maybe I've just lucked out on the few occasions I have flown with them, but certainly nothing to write home about. . . . . .

I agree 100%. Flew Sydney to Bangkok on Qantas and received very good service resulting in a highly enjoyable flight. Returned on the Emirates overnight leg and the service was average to disinterested at the best of times despite the hard product being better. Not the first time I've had a service like this on Emirates either.
