Hi,

I thought you might like to see what business class is like on QF322 - operated by LAN. As I mentioned in this thread --> http://www.australianfrequentflyer....sting-for-lan-flights-49532-2.html#post811961 <-- I was on this flight after it was cancelled the night before. I was upgraded to business only because someone needed the bassinet seat, and only after a bit of a standoff as I wasn't particularly interested in swapping for a middle seat at the back of the plane.

This was my first experience in J, at long last, and I set a record for the time I got to sleep - around 2 hours!

First, the wine list:

The dinner menu looked promising, but I got last choice, since it was an op-up, which was fine I guess.

Seat 1J - lots of leg room :)

Seat controls - I wouldn't call it a lie-flat or lie-horizontal seat... the lower section only raises to about 75 degrees so your legs still dangle a bit.

I chose the soup (they ran out of crab). The cheese was the highlight.

And the steak, which came cooked medium.

Time for another drink... I had too much wine on this trip anyway :) Got a vodka and orange...

Then dessert came. I wanted the flan, but this icecream was great:

I saw others being given the breakfast order forms - I had to ask explicitly for one.

A few more vodka and oranges, a little sleep, and enjoying the perpetual sunset:

Nice to be in such a quiet cabin:

Breakfast. I don't know how they managed to extract the flavour out of the eggs, they tasted like nothing. And dried up cubes of potato don't really work for me. Of course, it was around 7PM AKL time now so a bit weird to be eating breakfast now anyway.

Slow and often non-responsive, but that seems pretty standard. Selection was pretty limited - there were ~20 "blockbusters", some of which were a few years old. The TV section was basically just Friends and "Two and a Half Men" (I think that's what it's called?). Doesn't compare to Qantas - I think their IFE is the best.

The flight path ("Map") was from the 1980s - analog video source upscaled and, as usual I guess, filled with ads (I wish they wouldn't use white in the ads as it gets too bright at night). I normally leave the IFE on the map - I wish airlines in general would put a lot more flight data in these, like attitude, fuel usage etc - I guess they think no one would be interested, but I would find it fascinating.
