Hey ... Guess What! Steve "Pinhead" Purvinas has commented:
Qantas engineers want full probe - Yahoo!7
ALAEA federal secretary Steve Purvinas said safety was a growing concern for Qantas engineers with continued outsourcing of maintenance work.

"We know that the dramatic increase in the number of safety incidents involving Qantas jets coincides with an increase in the amount of work that is no longer carried out in-house," he said in a statement.

Yep. I'm sure there is a correlation...

Re: QF 32 A380 out of action - who is inconvenienced?

Does anyone think SQ, EY and AF will ground their 380's?

All SQ operated A380 flights have been delayed for checks:

04 November 2010

Our engine manufacturer Rolls Royce and aircraft manufacturer Airbus have advised us to conduct precautionary technical checks on our A380 aircraft, following today's incident involving another operator’s A380.

Resulting from this development, Singapore Airlines will be delaying all flights operating our A380 aircraft.

We will keep affected customers updated and more information will be provided once it is available.

Re: QF 32 A380 out of action - who is inconvenienced?

Anyone want to guess how many Airbus & RR staff are currently heading to Singapore???

Putting aside the credibility of the source, do we know yet whether it's a manufacturing or maintenance issue? Or is it too premature to dismiss any causation links so far?

Are you kidding me, its way too early, give it months if not years before the issue is completely investigated.

Re: QF 32 A380 out of action - who is inconvenienced?

Not sure if this has been reported, but it appears that SQ has grounded flights pending further inspections.

That is a big step IMHO.
Rolls Royce must be worried...interesting that the SQ press release won't mention Qantas but refers to it as "another operator"
