QF284 HNL to SYD: QF ticket, QF flight number, JQ metal = no points, apparently

Is this correct? I called to check and the guy really had no idea.

The T&Cs do seem to confirm no points unless in a certain bucket, but still doesn't seem in the spirit of earning QF flight numbers. I don't recall the booking class but it certainly was not cheap.

"Qantas Points and Status Credits are not earned on Qantas Codeshare flights (ie with a QF flight number) operated by Jetstar Airline other than in booking classes of Y B H K or L (earn in L class is eligible only when travelling on a oneworld fare product)"

Correct, if you don't pay for the extra bundle you get no points or SC when flying QF codeshare on JQ. The only other exception for L bucket is mentioned in the paragraph you copied.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This is why you don't book QF codes on JQ operated flights.

You can only pay for the plus bundle to earn points & SC on the JQ website in which case the flight could be only be sold as JQ4 not QF284.

It is correct and is one of the few times a QF number is not earning. Given the prevalence of such flight options in Asia now its becoming more of a surprise to travellers.

Fairer and Simpler no doubt!!

As already mentioned previously, this has nothing to do with the FF program changed earlier this year.

Apologies, mannej. My (not so) obvious sarcasm was lost on your good self. I will really try to do better in 2015.

I assume that this is the case because there are IT issues or some sort of Reservation System limitations that prevent the JQ bundles being able to be sold on the QF booking site?

Or actually more of a question for the IT guys here - is it that they can't or that they won't sell QFF point and SC earning bundles on the QF booking site? Or are there accounting reasons for this rather than IT booking system issues?

I guess we can also file this one under the "why do airlines do everything they can to hide their fare buckets from the consumer" when the fare buckets often contain surprises such as flexibility, lounge eligibility/baggage allowances, SC and point earn etc?

We must all realise and remember that JQ is a budget airline in the end.
All QF except QFLink flights have aero bridges but in MEL, it's the stairs for JQ both front and back doors.
Am flying my first JQ flight tonight... MEL to ADL, last flight out.
