I've checked the reliability of QF23 and it seems a bit shoddy with 39% reliability. I was hoping to catch a flight out of BKK to CMB via KUL. The MH flight leaves at 5:05pm and QF23 lands at 3:35pm. I'll be carrying carry-on only and I think I'll be able to checkin online. What are my chances making the MH flight?

At present with time changes QF23 lands an hour or so later than you suggest, but I assume you are making a forward booking.

My impression is that QF23 is not perfect, but reaosnably reliable, with many of its delays being less than half an hour.

I don't hugely enjoy such tight connections especially if with a different airline. Yours is pretty tight: not much margin for error. Is there an alternative such as staying overnight in BKK?

I'd say that timing is too tight for comfort.

Does MH have a later flight to CMB, if you miss that one? And will they be on the same PNR (i.e. with the connection protected, making it the airline's responsibility to fix it for you)?

My QF23 experience in the last few weeks was a delay of 1 hour 7 minutes. YMMV. Too tight for me and BKK airport is a rat hole.

A few weeks back QF23 was delayed 1h 15m and struggled to make a 2h 20m unprotected connection.

Too unreliable. I wouldn't risk it.
