Travelling on QF128 in Feb. A380 without F being sold.
Was under the impression that as WP I could select row 5 which ExpertFlyer shows as available and no seats occupied (Rows 1-4 blocked as expected).
However on Qantas site row 5 is blocked, which was also to the surprise of the agent in Hobart when I was paying the fees and taxes for the flight as it was a released rewards flight.

Would the hive mind have any thoughts on this? I know it's not an isolated incident as there's a post on the ET article relating to it as well.

That's odd. I looked at QF127 on 14/02 and in EF the whole F cabin is available (I'm P1), but if I try to select a seat on QF.com all seats in F are available except 5A. Not sure why the discrepancy between EF and QF.

5A is blocked because of the bassinet, not sure why 5F and K are. @HirafuHeartAttack , what does your main deck seat map look like?
That makes sense but odd that it's not blocked on EF. 5F and K would've been fine as we could chat across the aisle and would've been a cracker way to finish off a huge redemption trip.

Try it on RJ website through MMB. It may reflect the EF availability and work to select. Worth a try!

EF seating is not accurate for some cabins and the A380 F is one of them.
I would say that the entire F cabin is blocked for P1 based on what @defurax can see.

More than likely on the money, but FWIW my data point was QF127 on A380 earlier in the year and we randomly had row 5 opened to select from (as 2x NB) but did show as open to select on QF as well as EF

Wasn’t at time of booking but later, held to the flight and no others ever opened up

QF blocks rows 1-5 for P1/CLP1 however these seats may open at T-80h if there's not many P1/CLP1s.

'Executive Traveller understands that savvy Platinum and Platinum One frequent flyers, along with Chairman’s Lounge members, will be able to upgrade themselves from business class seat to a first class suite on their booking’s seat selection screen.'

So ET should probably edit this article to remove WP then I Guess!

YMMV but successfully got the call centre to allocate 1A and 2A to a WP/SG booking on QF128 in December. Shows up nicely in MMB and the EF seat map matches with the seats taken (no longer blocked).

When paying the taxes HBA agent just stated they were blocked (which was to her surprise) and that was about the end of that discussion...

Tried, it showed a wide open seat map with no restrictions, however once we selected anything it would come back with an error and wipe our original selections from QF site.

I just called Hobart, they said all 5 rows only available to Chair/P1. Doesn't know exact release date for WP but thinks a week out. WP will get a chance before free for all.

Clear as mud...btw mine's a redemption ticket.

Ahh yep makes some sense... but still not really any.

When's your flight? Mines not till Feb so any experience beforehand would be appreciated!

End of Jan is my flight. Old A380 flights start end of this month so will be interesting to get first hand account from someone, if not i'll call Hobart late November & ask again for clarification for WPs....

A couple of weeks before mine at least!
Is your seat map showing old A380? Mine is 1 2 1 in J so I assume it's a new one?

Both QF & EF seat map were1 2 1 originally but seeing the article about the change I put a seat map alert in EF and got an email a few days ago notifying me of aircraft change. Seat map on EF is now 2 2 2, & my suspicion is QF will update to that soon. Need row 1-5 or there will be tears 😭!

Qantas - consistently inconsistent. Managed to get 1A and 2A allocated on QF127 6 months out (for December, allocated in June) as SG and WP - no questions or comments. Is on a revenue ticket.

They must just like you more…😂

Maybe it’s a revenue ticket / redemption difference but it’s the first time I’ve seen it for seat allocation..

I think qantas just made up a few new rules, dealers discretion I guess but as a customer it devalues WP…again. Another decision made to benefit QF bottom line over customers.
