According to EF, there are 9 seats in W for this flight, however as a WP i just selected my seat and there was only one available. I looked at EF seat map and it shows all seats taken ?

My friend who is NB is flying on this same flight (seperate PNR) and she is unable to even select a seat , its just asking for aisle or window preference?

A glitch maybe? Or am i reading loadings wrong?

Once the number of seats selected reaches a certain percentage then lower status passengers cannot select them until check in.

Might be diff config, a380 or 747? The a380 has 2 configs so the W seats vary

Whats strange is though, EF doesnt have crosses over seats or white seats, it has them all as solid blue selected colour, being able to purchase 9 seats still on the website for this flight also makes it strange so many seats selected in this colour. And as a WP i was given just one option of a seat, youd think there would be more opened up for a WP?

only thing i see is its not a refurb plane, maybe they suscpect this plane wont be in service then?

I recently flew on QF128 HKG-MEL on PE. I purchased my ticket 2 weeks before and it was the non-refurbed A380 and I was able to select a seat. A week later it became a refurbed A380 and the only seat available was 28E on the website.

I called customer service and they were able to assign me a requested aisle in row 28F. On flight date, I checked in online again and alot of seats became free. Picked 25B in the end. I would suggest calling CS.

What i find a little strange though is there is still 9 seats showing in EF for Y+ for sale yet the seat map is this with 2 white seats, and the rest solid, not the X's which would be blocked but actual solid blue meaning theyve been selected by people?

The last few times i have flown this route, J has been half full and upgrades always worked, however since dropping to 1 service a day does anyone know how these flights have been going? I am upgrading myself from Y+ to J (i am WP) and on a seperate itineary my sister who is NB. Sep PNR's as shes coming from Brisbane and me from Melb to link in to this same flight together. Would the system realise this and give her the same priority as me for upgrades or is that only when on the same PNR?

Had similar problem, looked up SYD/HNL on EF plenty of seats, when i booked same day only few available.

How many J/F seat are free?

WHat airlines do this close to a flight is try to get revenue for unsold seat any way they can, this included selling premium seating for lower class fares.

It's a A380 Qf127 on may 3 Syd-HKG. Only thought qf did the selling seats like that on 4class planes on 3 class routes?

Ah well fingers crossed should work out good

Not quite like that. QF may see 20 seats on a flight still "unsold". 16 may be in F and J, leaving 4 in economy.

Qantas will try to sell those 20 seats for whatever they can get. If in the above scenario they sell 15 of those at economy prices they will have to upgrade 11 PAX as there were only 4 economy seats "left".

First they'll upgrade those who have points upgrades requested, then if there are still too many pax in economy they would normally look at each customer's value/status with Qantas and upgrade those at the top of the list.

This may often be seen with a low fare bucket availability in first/business (F2 / J3) with seat maps showing a disproportionally low number of seat allocated in the actual cabin. e.g. F1 with only 1 of the 14 seats allocated.

I just moved from QF 127 on May 3rd to April 29th so theres 2 more free seats in J for you ;) I've flown this sector probably upwards of 50 times with probably half as Y+ upgrade to J and have never been denied once.
