I'm booked on these flights next August (I like to plan ahead) and need to know the lowdown on seats.

J and K is the preferred section but the actual chair number is now the crucial part; do we select 36 or 37 or do we go back of cabin and avoid the clown who has to pull on my backrest to exit their seat?

Seat Guru tells me that 36 row have slightly thinner seats due to a monitor or tray table being fitted to the armrest. Being Y+ seats I expect to have these in my armrest. Expecting 37 to be the same seat guru tells me they are a standard Y+ seat and therefore, 'better'.

So, whom do I believe?

Has anyone actual experience of these seats and what would you sit in if you were to go again? Of course there are planes with 36 or 40 Y+ seats and we won't know that until closer to the time.

My aim is to have the widest seat and most leg room available.

As far as I can tell, all seats in the Y+ cabin on the refurbed 747 (flew as QF8 and QF16 last month) have the same amount of space, with regards to tray tables and IFE screens. All seats have both in the arm rests. I'd consider row 36. If very concerned about pulling of the seat, then I'd go for the back row.

when in PE I prefer the last row, as the seats are closer to each other people behind tend to pull the seats in front to get up and move, if you are unlucky enough to have someone who likes to get up a lot behind you you won't get a lot of sleep.

YMMV

Thanks Katie

I'll lock in 36 and if I get a tugger I will be having words. Spent all of LHR-SYD with this issue last time and dealt with it quietly. No more.
